G1 - 1800m - Turf

1

Euro Charline

The booking of Joao Moreira is an extra advantage for this UK-trained filly who has won four of her seven starts and improved throughout last year. On her final start she beat some of the top fillies and mares in the USA in a G1 at Arlington Park in Chicago. She is happy leading or racing close to the pace and those tactics have proved most successful during this Meydan season.

2

Umgiyo

On his first start since leaving South Africa he showed good speed to win a handicap over this course and distance with his two subsequent starts in Listed and G2 company being at least as good. He has potential for further improvement and has possibilities here provided he doesn't race too keenly early on which has sometimes been a problem.

3

Mshawish

Didn't make much of an impact in the G1 Champions Mile at Sha Tin last May. He was a good fourth in this race last year considering he had his path blocked earlier in the straight. Now based in the USA where he's won his last three starts, with narrow victories in a G2 and G1 on his last two starts.

4

Earnshaw

A G3 winner as a two-year-old when based in France, he made his Meydan debut in a G2 over 1600m last month, running a close third. That was an encouraging start for his new trainer and, if notably sharper for that performance, he could make an impact.

5

Limario

A dual G3 winner in Germany earlier in his career and he bounced back to his best when winning a handicap over this course and distance on his penultimate start, benefitting from a rail-skimming ride that day. However, moving up to G1 company for the Jebel Hatta here earlier this month, he failed to show anything special.

6

The Grey Gatsby

Trained in the UK though his greatest moment came with a terrific victory in the G1 French Derby over 2100m at Chantilly last June, accelerating magnificently from well off the pace. He completed last season with another G1 win (2000m) in Ireland, looking to struggle but benefitting from a tremendous ride from Ryan Moore to outgun the brilliant Australia. Has first start since on this Meydan debut.

7

Trade Storm

He ran poorly in this race last year but he has run some very good races here at Meydan including a G2 victory over 1600m in 2013 and, though beaten 6 1/2L into second by Hunter's Light in a G1 here earlier this month, that was a very promising first effort of the year especially considering he was blocked in his run.

8

Cladocera

A super-looking and strong French-trained filly, who has proved herself a G1 operator in the making after two stylish G2 wins at Meydan this season, one at this distance. Admittedly the form of both those races has not looked strong but the manner of those victories could not be faulted.

9

Farraaj

Last seen when 3L sixth behind Designs On Rome in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin in December, though he did race too freely off the steady early pace that day. Physically small and described by his trainer as a 'bit of a character', he has some high class form both in top handicaps and some of his Group race efforts. The faster the surface the better.

10

Solow

A bit of a freak with overwhelming stamina in his pedigree - and last May he raced over 3100m - but has continually surprised his trainer with his speed, with his last three wins coming over 1600m including in G2 company last October. He's never raced outside France but prepped for this with a runaway victory on the sand surface at Chantilly this month.
