Six youngsters for HKJC at Australian Easter Yearling Sale

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased six yearlings for a total cost of A$2.3 million (approximately HK$13.8 million) at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. The prestige auction was held last week, from Tuesday 7 April to Thursday 9th April, at the Newmarket sale complex in Sydney, Australia.

The Club swooped early on day one to secure Lot 8, a well-connected Manhattan Rain colt, for A$700,000. The youngster’s dam, La Bamba, has already produced eight winners including the G1 Hong Kong Sprint victor Inspiration and fellow Hong Kong scorer Lucky Unicorn, while her Listed-winning daughter Provence has produced HKG2 Chairman’s Trophy victor Admiration.

Day two brought four more purchases, headed by Lot 393, a A$460,000 Street Cry colt out of the speedy Listed-winning G1 place-getter Extension Of Time, from a high-class family that has produced the G1 winner Snitzerland. The Club also went to A$450,000 for Lot 257, a More Than Ready colt out of the G3 winner Zingaling.

The Club concluded it’s buying on the final day with Lot 604, a A$280,000 Choisir colt.

Lot 396 b c Northern Meteor ex Fairytale Dancer (Danehill Dancer) – A$260,000 (approx. HK$1.54 million)

Lot 604 b c Choisir ex Rich Ransom (Red Ransom) – A$280,000 (approx. HK$1.65 million)
