Kranji Stakes C - Form Comments

1400m – Turf

1

Eagle Storm

His last four starts were in similar Kranji Stakes C events but over 1200m for a win and a third, which was his latest outing. The 1400m trip is not beyond him as he has won over 1600m. He races on the pace and is worth each-way.

2

Fraajilistic

He has been very consistent this year, having notched a win and four seconds from five starts. Last start over 1600m, he was shouted the winner but was pipped near the wire by Ideal Guide. He will have plenty of admirers with Magic Man Joao Moreira at the helm.

3

Twickenham

He was never out of the top four from seven starts after his debut seventh. Three of his four wins were over the 1400m journey. He resumed from a half-year break in April and has finished a second and a third from two starts over this course and distance. He's one of the top chances.

4

Alpha Centauri

His sequence of good runs was snapped last start. He ran eighth over 1200m, a distance deemed short for him now. Prior to that, he chalked up back-to-back wins, over 1600m on turf and 1800m on Polytrack. Although up 200m from his last outing, he may find some of these better.

5

Reach For The Sun

He started his career with a winning hat-trick. Although he has not won again, he never finished further than fourth in five subsequent starts. He came in for strong support last start and came home a trifle late to finish second. He can make amends.

6

These Streets

He is an above-average horse but seems to have mixed his form recently. His last-start ninth and 10th three starts back were his worst efforts, sandwiched between was a come-from behind third. If he's in the mood, he can be a major player.

7

Tom

He used to be an honest galloper with all his six victories over this course, distance and surface. He has not lit the board in his last 10 outings. Last start, he finished the closest of his worst performances though, finishing only about three lengths behind. Only for the adventurous.

8

Cordoba

He started as a glamour galloper, winning his first four starts, all over the course and distance in quick times, with his last win in 1:21.89. He then joined the group company but his form went awry. His best effort from nine subsequent starts only yielded a second four starts back. He is resuming from a spell and see if he could surprise fresh.

9

Smart Idea

He was spelled after scoring his fifth win last October over 1600m in a smart time. He resumed in April and both his runs were disappointing, albeit over 1000m Polytrack races which were not his cup of tea. Although the 1400m looks more ideal, he may still need a couple more runs to score again.

10

Gold Run

He is going over his pet course and distance, having scored five of his six wins over the 1400m trip on turf. He ran out of form late last year and early this year but seems to be getting his act back steadily with a third and a fourth in his last two starts. The roughie.

11

Platoon

One of his three wins was over this course and distance, but his recent form is awful. He was well beaten in ninth and eighth in his last two starts. Before that, he notched three wins from his previous four starts. He needs a strong pace and, if he gets it, he may upset the apple cart.

12

Pint Sized Prince

He's the grand comeback kid. He snapped a sequence of horrendous runs over almost a year before winning his last two outings. On both occasions, he came from way back to snatch victory, over 1400m and then 1200m. He's in rattling form but this is a different kettle of fish.

13

Warpath

He came right four starts back at his eighth start in a Class 4 affair over this course and distance. He has since struggled in a higher class, finishing unplaced in three outings. He looks a highly-strung animal and can over-race and ruin his chances. Best to ignore.

14

Farrand

All his seven wins, from 1100m to 1400m on both surfaces, were in lower classes. His campaign this year also does not warrant much writing space. His best effort from six starts was a fourth. Furthermore, he's getting long in the tooth. He's eight, going on nine.

Reserves

15

Nation Theatre

He was outclassed in his Group 3 bid last start, finishing last of 11 runners. The two-time Polytrack winner (over 1600m and 1700m) was placed four times in his previous five starts. Although he is back to earth, he will find this another tall order.

16

Xavio

After a run of outs, he popped up with a second placing over 1200m three starts back. But he failed to progress and finished down the track in two subsequent starts. His three wins were over this course and distance but the last was in March 2013.
