Jockey N Callan

26/05/2015

At the Sha Tin racemeeting conducted on Sunday, 24 May 2015, Jockey N Callan was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 11 June 2015 on which day he may resume race riding.  During the inquiry, Jockey Callan requested the Racing Stewards defer the commencement date of the suspension until after the Sha Tin racemeeting which is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, 31 May 2015.  Accordingly, the Racing Stewards ruled that Jockey Callan’s period of suspension from riding in races was to take effect on Monday, 1 June 2015.  During this period, three Hong Kong racemeetings are scheduled to be conducted.

The Racing Stewards have received an application from Jockey Callan for the aforementioned period of suspension from riding in races to be amended.  Jockey Callan explained that he neglected to inform the Racing Stewards’ Panel that he had accepted race riding engagements for the racemeetings at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 3 June 2015 and at Sha Tin on Sunday, 7 June 2015.  Accordingly, Jockey Callan has applied for the commencement of the period of suspension from riding in races to be deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 7 June 2015.

The Racing Stewards have decided to amend Jockey Callan’s period of suspension from riding in races to now commence after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 7 June 2015 and to expire on Thursday, 18 June 2015 on which day he may resume race riding.  There are three Hong Kong racemeetings scheduled to be conducted during the revised period of suspension which is consistent with the previous ruling.

The previous ruling that Jockey Callan be fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday remains in effect.
