Mega prize awaits fans at season opener this Sunday

Fans coming to the season opener at Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday (6 September) can expect twin delights as they will be greeted with a welcome pack carrying a free Racing Calendar (Photo 1) and the chance to win fabulous prizes worth over HK$300,000 in total.  Mega prizes totalling $45 million will be on offer for the season opening day meeting; a total of $75 million will be in offer for the first two meetings of the new season (Photo 2).  Each racegoer will each receive a free 2015/16 Racing Calendar* and an Instant Win Card# offering the chance to win one of the 24K gold-plated ornaments up for grabs, each one worth $1,330. 

Mega Prizes of $45 million will be on offer for the season opening day.   They include an estimated payout of $38 million and $6 million for the Triple Trio and the first Double Trio respectively if there is only one single $10 winning unit, as well as a $1 million jackpot for the last race of Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool.

On the season’s first night meeting (Wednesday, 9 September), up to $30 million in total will be available for grabs.  The prizes include an estimated dividend of $20 million for the Triple Trio, $4 million for the second Double Trio and $5 million for Six Up Six Win bonus for a $10 winning unit, as well as a $1 million jackpot for the last race of Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool. A total of $75 million will be in offer for the first two meetings of the new season.
 
A spectacular line-up of oncourse events 
The opening ceremony will take place in the Parade Ring at 12:00 noon. It will start with the traditional eye-dotting of the ceremonial lions, followed by the gong-striking ceremony performed by HKSAR Chief Secretary for Administration, The Hon Mrs Carrie Lam.  Jockeys will also be in attendance to wish fans the very best for the coming season.

Mrs Lam will later present the trophy to the winning connections of the HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup, scheduled to be run as Race 3 at 2 pm.

Mini-gongs will be set up near the racecourse main entrances for racegoers seeking some good fortune over the coming season.  Fans may also visit a lucky formation installed in the Public Forecourt.

An eye-catching range of tote bags, scarves, key chains and magnets with prices from HK$50 illustrating the spectacular racecourses at Sha Tin and Happy Valley, specially-created by renowned Japanese artist Kiyoko Yamaguchi, will be on sale at Gift at Races stores and selected locations while stocks last(Photo 3).  A range of “Riding High in Style” items, jointly launched by The Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will also be available.
 
Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 11:00 am on Sunday 6 September. There will be 10 races on the card, with the first starting at 1:00 pm.
