Join the National Day celebrations at Sha Tin Racecourse on 1 October

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will be hosting a special National Day Race Meeting at Sha Tin Racecourse on 1 October featuring a series of spectacular on-course activities.  Visitors to Hong Kong will be offered free admission to the racecourse by showing their valid travel documents on entering the Public Enclosure.

The China National Acrobatic Troupe will get the day off to a breathtaking start with their award winning show, “Buckjumps and Rhythm – Pagoda of Bowl”, which will be performed at the opening ceremony at 12:00 noon.  Renowned Mainland opera artist Liming Chi will then lead the singing of the National Anthem accompanied by the Hong Kong Police Band.  Mr Hu Jianzhong, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the HKSAR will be in attendance at the ceremony.

The Club and Hong Kong Post are collectively issuing a set of special souvenir covers featuring champion horses Able Friend and Aerovelocity. The limited edition covers are of great collectible value and will be available in Envelope Set (HK$190) and Deluxe Stamp Box Set (HK$590).

Two themed merchandise items - a pen (HK$160) and a scarf (HK$300) - featuring a specially commissioned design by celebrated cross-media artist Simon Ma will also be available at designated sales counters, while stocks last.

Mezza One, the food plaza at Sha Tin Racecourse, will present six specialty dishes from famous cities and provinces across China.  All dishes are made using authentic ingredients and spices and cooked according to traditional recipes.

Top-class sporting action is assured with the running of the season’s first two Group races – the National Day Cup and the Celebration Cup.  Mr Yang Jian, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR will present The National Day Cup to the winning connections immediate after the race. 

Ten races are programmed for the National Day Race Meeting, with the first starting at 1:00 pm.  Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 11:00 am on 1 October. 

Free admission to visitors on 4 October race meeting
In celebration of the National Day Golden Week, visitors to Hong Kong will also be offered free admission to the public enclosure for the Sunday 4 October Sha Tin race meeting.
