Club buys four yearling colts at Goffs Orby

06/10/2015

The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought four colts at Ireland’s prestigious Goffs Orby Yearling Sale last week (29 & 30 September) for a total outlay of €1.04 million.

Heading up the quartet was Lot 391, an Oasis Dream colt out of the Group 3-placed Polish Precedent mare Sanjida, knocked down for €320,000. The bay youngster’s dam is a half-sister to the European Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Sarafina.

Lot 296 was secured for €300,000 earlier on the second of the auction’s two days. The athletic Acclamation colt - popular with prospective purchasers - is the first foal born to the Pivotal mare Moment Juste, a half-sister to the G2 winner Imperial Stride and that horse’s own brother, the G3 victor High Pitched.

Day one of the Goffs Orby yielded another pair of athletic youngsters. First to be purchased, for €240,000, was Lot 38, a bay colt by Fastnet Rock out of the Dalakhani mare Aniarnota. The dam is an unraced three parts sister to G1 Irish Derby and G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Desert King, from a prolific Black Type family.

The first session also saw the Club purchase Lot 249 for €200,000. The youngster – out of the Linamix mare Lapland – is by Holy Roman Emperor, the sire of Hong Kong’s 2014 Horse of the Year Designs On Rome and last season’s HKG1 Hong Kong Classic Mile winner Beauty Only.
