G1 - 1600m – Turf

1

Royal Descent

Posted wide in the G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on 17 October and was eased down late, when obviously beaten, to finish 30 lengths last behind Mongolian Khan. Top class mare at her best and back to mares only race. Last run followed G1 seconds at 1600m and 2000m in the George Main Stakes and Turnbull Stakes. Has run 2nd or 3rd in each of her nine starts at 1600m.

2

Solicit

Excellent on pace performance when head 2nd to La Passe in G2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 17 October which was her first run since June. Been placed up to 2500m and the 1600m shouldn't be an issue despite her moderate statistical record at the distance.

3

May's Dream

Finished close at past two runs in G2 mares race and can be ridden forward or back. Beaten 0.4 lengths when 3rd to Amicus in 1400m Let's Elope Stakes at this track on 12 September before 0.75 lengths 2nd to Fenway in a 1600m race at Moonee Valley on 2 October.

4

Miss Rose De Lago

Sound effort when 0.5 lengths 4th to Amicus in the G2 Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) on 12 September. Then kept fresh before excellent front-running win at this distance in G3 Vase at Caulfield on 14 October. Not run badly in five attempts at this distance.

5

Politeness

In great form but steps up to 1600m, at which she's unplaced in two attempts, after two strong finishing Caulfield 1200m wins and 1200m barrier trial win on 20 October. Has won at 1500m and with smart stable so would be unwise to dismiss.

6

Jessy Belle

Strong finisher who's been racing well without much luck. Finished third behind La Passe at past two starts; beaten 1.3 lengths in the G2 Blazer Stakes here and 0.9 lengths in the G2 Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield. Step to 1600m suits.

7

La Passe

Consistently underestimated. Won the G2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at this track on 4 October when 40/1. Then 20/1 last time when again successful, winning the G2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) by a head from Solicit. This is first run beyond 1400m.

8

Atlantis Dream

Blocked for clear run last Saturday when 3.5 lengths 7th to Coronation Shallan in G3 Tesio Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley. Much better suited on this bigger track and possible improver.

9

Abidewithme

Back a notch in class on past two runs in G1 races against all comers. Ran home very well last start when 3.75 lengths 6th to Lucky Hussler in the Toorak Handicap at 1600m. Suited this class, track and distance.

10

Vergara

Handy to pace throughout last start when 3.2 lengths 6th to Casino Dancer in the G3 Angst Stakes (1600m) at Randwick. This is first run left handed.

11

Amicus

Strong finishing winner of the G2 Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) on 12 September. Failed twice since but excuses each time. Jarred up on the firm track when failed in G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes and then caught wide throughout when 5.4 lengths 11th to La Passe in G2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on 17 October.

12

Fenway

Won Moonee Valley 1600m G2 Strathayr Track Stakes by 0.75 lengths from May's Dream on 2 October before tailed off last behind Stratum Star in G3 David Jones Cup (2000m) on 17 October when found to be 'in season'.

13

Slightly Sweet

Ran on well when 1.7 lengths 4th to La Passe in G2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 17 October. Fitter for that - her third run this season and won only previous start at this distance.

14

Azkadellia

Lightly raced, keeps improving and already has good record of four wins, three seconds from eight starts. Excellent effort last Saturday when the track pattern/bias was very much against her when nose 2nd to Coronation Shallan in G3 Tesio Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

15

Stay With Me

Classy three-year-old filly taking on the older mares after beating subsequent winner Jameka in the G1 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on 10 October. Five fillies have contested this race - with the best result being a second place to Alinghi (2004) who'd also won the 1000 Guineas.
