Settled last from barrier 14 in last Saturday’s G1 Cox Plate (2040m) and ran well to 10.45 lengths from Winx in 6th place (winner’s margin was 4.75 lengths). Has won six races at this track including recent Makybe Diva Stakes.

Happy Trails

Disadvantaged by wide draw and racing pattern when 13 lengths 10th to Winx in last Saturday’s G1 Cox Plate. That followed Caulfield Stakes 2nd to Cox Plate runner-up Criterion. Did win this race last year after finishing 6th in the Cox Plate.

Extra Zero

Slow pace and tight track against when 4.85 lengths 9th to Digitalism in Cranbourne Cup at latest run. That followed 1.25 lengths 5th to Preferment in G1 Turnbull Stakes at this track. Good record of one win, six seconds at this course and distance includes nose 2nd to Spillway in 2015 Australian Cup.

Pornichet

In the wrong part of the track when 8.6 lengths last of eight behind Criterion in the G1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on 10 October. Then in right part of track to make ground along fence when 9 lengths 4th to Winx in last Saturday’s G1 Cox Plate.

Contributer

Hasn’t won in three runs this season after great autumn campaign but he can improve. Race did not unfold to suit when 5.3 lengths 5th to Criterion in the G1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on 10 October. Expect better.

Weary

Vet reported slow recovery after he finished last of 15 behind Preferment in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at this course and distance on 4 October. Since been placed in Rosehill 1030m barrier trial. Probably needs rain affected ground to be winning chance here.

Gailo Chop

French import who wasn’t disgraced when 12.5 lengths 8th to Winx in last Saturday’s G1 Cox Plate as he was never in the best part of the track. Possible improver.

Index Linked

Has good record on two wins, one second from four starts at this course and distance although in weaker class. Did run on well when 1.2 lengths 3rd to Digitalism in Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) on 11 October and fitter now.

Magic Hurricane

Comes back in distance from G1 win in The Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on 3 October after missing a start in the Caulfield Cup when an emergency (reserve). Beaten a head behind Preferment in G2 Hill Stakes at this distance in September.

Ecuador

In the first two at 14 of 19 starts. Form looks good now after his 2.3 lengths 2nd to subsequent Cox Plate winner Winx in the G1 The Epsom (1600m) at Randwick on 3 October.

Magic Artist

German trained import having first run in Australia for Andreas Wohler who won Melbourne Cup last year with Protectionist. This horse’s most recent win was at this distance in G3 class in Italy in April. Unplaced last start in Germany in July. Adds interest.

Eye catching effort last time when improved from near last on home turn to finish 3.2 lengths 5th to Lucky Hussler in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on 10 October.

Stratum Star

Ran 1.35 lengths 3rd to stablemate Lucky Hussler in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) before strong on-pace win at this distance in the G3 David Jones Cup at Caulfield on 17 October. In great form.

Rising Romance

Failed last time but trainer reported she was ‘in season’ after her 7.2 lengths 13th to Mongolian Khan in the G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on 17 October. Back to 2000m suits.

Set Square

Terrific run this course and distance when 0.8 lengths 3rd to Preferment in the G1 Turnbull Stakes on 4 October. Then raced too keenly in front when fading 10.9 lengths 16th to Mongolian Khan in the G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on 17 October. Can improve.
