TIANHUANG (T303) - 18 November 2015 Sha Tin Racemeeting

16/11/2015

The Stewards have interviewed Trainer J Moore regarding his application to remove Blinkers and add a Pacifier with Cowls to the gear worn by TIANHUANG, a declared starter in the Wayfoong Centenary Bowl (Handicap) to be conducted at the Sha Tin race meeting on Wednesday, 18 November 2015.  TIANHUANG was successful at its most recent race start over the course and distance on 5 July 2015 when racing with Blinkers only.

Mr Moore explained that in its two barrier trials conducted on 22 September 2015 and 20 October 2015, TIANHUANG resented the kickback when racing back in the field.  As such, he applied a Pacifier with Cowls to the horse when it again barrier trialed on 10 November 2015 and he was satisfied with the horse’s performance on that occasion.

The Stewards also interviewed Jockey Douglas Whyte who rode TIANHUANG in its first two barrier trials this season.  Jockey Whyte confirmed that the horse was reluctant to stretch out when facing the kickback and that it would be aided by the proposed change of gear, particularly given that it has not shown early speed and is likely to have to race behind other runners.

Having considered the merits of Mr Moore’s application, the Stewards have approved for TIANHUANG to race with a Pacifier with Cowls in the stated race.
