"Trackside Breakfast with the Stars", the always-popular annual prelude to the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races, will be held on Saturday 12 December , the day before the Sunday showpiece. The fun event is a great opportunity for family gatherings, enabling parents and children to soak up the unique LONGINES HKIR atmosphere and watch some of the world’s finest race horses at exercise ahead of the four International Group 1 races. Tickets will go on sale from today. A USB hub and wooden inner earphone will be distributed to parents, and for the children, a cartoon U-shaped pillow (Photos 1, 2, 3).
The Trackside Breakfast runs from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at the Sha Tin Racecourse grandstand. The array of on-course activities will include a breakfast buffet (Photo 4), photo-taking with Shetland ponies (limited quota), innovative games and workshops for children (Photo 5), world-class horses in action, and racing experts and commentators sharing their insights.
The event offers a rare chance to observe star horses from Hong Kong and overseas having their final tune-ups on the track before the big day, with commentaries from well-known racing presenters Angelin Chang and Simon Leung (in Cantonese).
Tickets to the Trackside Breakfast with the Stars are now available at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches while stocks last. Bookings can also be made through the Club's 1817 Hotline. Adult and child tickets are available at $120 and $60 respectively. Children under three years of age are admitted free (no seat is allocated).
A free shuttle bus service will operate to the venue on 12 December, with seats available on a first-come-first-served basis:
7:15 - 7:30 am - Prince Edward MTR station (Exit A), Sai Yeung Choi Street North
7:30 - 7:40 am - University MTR station, Chak Cheong Street Bus Terminal
Free parking is also available at Penfold Park car park (limited spaces on a first-come-first-served basis).
