The global spotlight will be on Sha Tin this Sunday, 13 December, as top horses from around the world compete for honours in the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races – the turf world championships. Cheering them on will be Hollywood star Simon Baker and local singer Miriam Yeung.
Free LONGINES HKIR souvenir cap
Racegoers entering Sha Tin Racecourse on 13 December will receive a complimentary LONGINES HKIR souvenir cap as a free gift (before Race 5 or while stocks last).
Spectacular opening extravaganza
Getting the day off to a rousing start at 11:25 am will be an opening variety show in the Parade Ring, featuring Miriam Yeung singing some of her all-time favourites. There will also be performances from Ban’s Gig Drums and the renowned Sichuan Suining Acrobatic Troupe.
After Race 2, participating jockeys in the LONGINES HKIR will join senior HKJC and LONGINES officials in the Parade Ring to greet racing fans and raise the curtain on this year's International Races.
Presentations by ExCo Convenor and Hollywood star Simon Baker
The Hon Lam Woon-kwong, GBS, JP, Convenor of the Executive Council, will attend Sunday's meeting and present the trophy for the most prestigious of the four International Group 1 races, the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.
LONGINES Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker, best known for his lead role in the television series The Mentalist, will present souvenirs to winning connections of the LONGINES Hong Kong Mile.
Spectacular on-course activities
A wide range of trackside entertainment has also been lined up for fans at Sha Tin Racecourse.
- A photographer will snap pictures of the best-dressed racegoers and invite them to enter the "LONGINES Prize for Elegance" competition. The winner will receive a LONGINES watch presented by Simon Baker.
- A range of international cuisine will be available to delight the palates of racegoers at the Mezza One food plaza.
- A range of exclusive LONGINES HKIR themed merchandise, including a short-sleeved polo shirt, baseball cap and accessories, will also be on offer at designated sales counters in the Concourse area and Members’ Enclosure.
- Rounding the whole day off in style will be a pyrotechnic display lighting up the night sky in honour of the 2015 LONGINES HKIR champions.
