Enjoy an auspicious start to 2016 at Sha Tin Racecourse and receive a LUCKY START key chain

15/12/2015

Racing fans can get their New Year off to a galloping start on 1 January by attending the “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” at Sha Tin Racecourse.  And with a total of $90 million up for grabs in racing, football and Mark Six jackpots during the first two days of 2016 (photo 1), there’s plenty more to cheer about.

The good fortune will start immediately on admission, with all Sha Tin racegoers receiving a “LUCKY” key chain (photo 2).* Adding to the excitement, popular TV actors Louis Cheung and Grace Chan will lead the Lucky Cheering Team around Sha Tin Racecourse to play mini-games with racegoers and distribute fabulous gifts.

Race fans everywhere will also benefit from “Lucky Start” top ups on 1 January. For the Triple Trio the payout for a single $10 winning unit is expected to reach $27 million. Meanwhile, the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool for Race 5 and Race 11 will be topped up with $1 million each.

To keep the action going, on 2 January the jackpot of HKJC Football’s “Eng Premier 6HaFu” pool will be topped up to a total of $1 million, while the estimated First Division Prize Fund of Mark Six New Year Snowball Draw on 2 January may reach $60 million.  Together these special jackpot prizes add up to $90 million.

Racegoers keen to get even more of a “Lucky Start”, should also check out the range of themed merchandise (photo 3) specially created by local designer Dorophy Tang. Like this year’s “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” poster (photo 4), the merchandise takes its inspiration from a Chinese patchwork quilt, each patch donated by a different family and each expressing their best wishes for the future. Items for sale include a T-Shirt ($188), Zip Up Hoodie ($398), Backpack ($398), Clutch Bag ($138), Coin Bag ($128), Coffee Mug (128), Umbrella ($248) and Coach Jacket ($498).  All items will be on sale exclusively at Sha Tin Racecourse from 1 January.

The first race will be run at 12:30 pm on Thursday 1 January. Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 10:30 am.  All racegoers must be aged 18 or above.

* Souvenirs will be distributed until the start of Race 6, or while stocks last.
