25/01/2016

The Turf Authorities of India presented a special award to Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Chairman of the Asian Racing Federation at Mahalakshmi Racecourse in Mumbai on Sunday.

"The Organising Committee feels that it cannot allow the occasion of India hosting this ARC to pass without making special acknowledgment of the singular contribution which Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges has and continues to make on behalf of racing in our region," said Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, Chairman of the 36th Asian Racing Conference Organising Committee when presenting the special award. "Stretching back to 2007, he has been in equal measure tireless and inspirational in his quest to both strengthen the racing industry in ARF countries and promote the interests of Asian racing on the international stage.  There can be no doubt that the ARF has been successful on both fronts.  Indeed we can now say without any fear of contradiction that Asian racing is second to none."
