Dr Peter Curl, Executive Manager, Veterinary Regulation, advised the Stewards that PROMPT EXPRESS, a declared starter in the Edinburgh Handicap (Race 5) to be conducted at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 3 February 2016, had been treated with Broncopulmin powder prior to being entered for this race, but within the 14 day recommended withdrawal period for that medication.
After being reminded of this treatment, Mr P F Yiu, the trainer of PROMPT EXPRESS, made application for the horse to be withdrawn which was acceded to by the Stewards and accordingly PROMPT EXPRESS was withdrawn from its intended race by order of the Stewards.
Mr Yiu will be interviewed regarding this matter prior to tomorrow night’s racemeeting.
