At the Happy Valley racemeeting conducted on Wednesday, 3 February 2016, it was ruled that MR VANILLA, which was withdrawn from Race 1 after the horse became fractious, would be required to participate satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again.
The Stewards yesterday received submissions from Mr D E Ferraris, trainer of MR VANILLA, and also from the Club’s Starting Gate Officials regarding the circumstances which led to MR VANILLA becoming fractious.
After considering all of these submissions, the Stewards ruled that it is appropriate for MR VANILLA to participate satisfactorily in a stalls test rather than in a barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. MR VANILLA will still be required to undergo an official veterinary examination.
