The Hong Kong Jockey Club launches new initiative Purchase of racecourse admission tickets through WeChat Pay

25/02/2016

To sustain the motto of customer centricity, the Club has launched numerous innovative customer-centric strategies to provide differentiated racing entertainment experience over the past few years.

Since last season, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has strengthened its co-operation with WeChat in its platform development by introducing an Official Account of HKJC Racecourse where racing fans are able to obtain first-hand racing information.  With the recent launch of WeChat Pay in Hong Kong, the Club has further become one of the first local partners of WeChat Pay in providing customer convenience in purchasing racecourse admission tickets in QR code format to the public enclosure.

By bridging the O2O experience from mobile to racecourse, the Club continues to apply new technology to enhance the services and offerings to customers.

Mr. Richard Cheung, Executive Director of Customer and Marketing, sees mobile payment as the important digital trends. The Club is one of the first organizations in Hong Kong to leverage this payment capability on the WeChat Pay. Customers can now easily purchase the racecourse public admission tickets simply with a WeChat-installed smartphone and to connect their credit cards with their WeChat Pay accounts.

Racecourse admission tickets purchased from WeChat Pay will be saved at the smartphone in QR code format. Racing fans can access to the racecourse, including public enclosure, betting halls and some public restaurants, by scanning the QR code at designated entrance gate.

From 6 March till 20 March 2016, customers can learn more about the WeChat Pay features at the promotional booth at Sha Tin Racecourse during Sha Tin race meetings. Besides, from now until 31 March 2016, WeChat has offered a special price of racecourse admission ticket at HK$1 (original price HK$10).

It is expected more exciting innovation on customer digital experience between the Club and WeChat to be launched in near future, for instance reservation on racecourse catering facilities and service.
