Spectacular line up of on-course activities for the BMW Hong Kong Derby on 20 March

The BMW Hong Kong Derby (photo 1), a once-in-a-lifetime contest for Hong Kong’s top four-year-olds, will be held on Sunday 20 March at Sha Tin Racecourse, with HK$18 million in prize money up for grabs. An array of special souvenirs and programmes has been lined up for racegoers, including a free souvenir cap, special Derby Themed Tee, a display of the latest BMW cars and some mouth-watering culinary delights.

BMW Hong Kong Derby Door Gift
Fans attending the Derby meeting will each receive a BMW Hong Kong Derby Cap (photo 2) on admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses before the start of Race 5, while stocks last. For $50, racegoers can have a name of their choice sewn onto the cap at the racecourse souvenir shop “Gift At Races”.  

Derby Ambassador Donnie Yen
Renowned action star Donnie Yen, who recently became a horse owner himself, will be returning as the Derby Ambassador.  Now in his fourth consecutive year as Derby Ambassador, he will once again be cheering on Derby contenders at Sha Tin Racecourse. He will also join the presentation ceremony as one of the souvenir presenters.

Derby Themed Tee
A brand new series of Derby themed T-shirts, with design inspiration taken from the names of the last 138 Derby winners, plus a limited edition T-shirt designed by Derby Ambassador Donnie Yen, will be on sale on 20 March. Racegoers will also have the opportunity to design their own unique T-shirts based on this season’s Derby contestants.  The Derby Themed Tee is priced from $98 and will be available in black and grey colours.

Latest BMW cars on display
The title sponsor, BMW Concessionaires (HK) Ltd, will exhibit the latest BMW models at the Parade Ring and Public Forecourt. Auto aficionados are welcome to snap photos!

Culinary delights for racegoers
To celebrate this exciting annual event, a variety of culinary delights will be available at trackside catering outlets at Sha Tin Racecourse.

Lead up programmes for the big day
The Derby Phone-in Quiz is now under way, with participants having the chance to share cash vouchers worth HK$500,000 over four consecutive race meetings.  The remaining three quiz games will be held during the race meetings of 9, 13 and 16 March.

Admission to racecourses will start at 11am with the first race starting at 1pm.
