The BMW Hong Kong Derby, a much-coveted honour for four-year-old horses and connections, will be held this Sunday, 20 March, at Sha Tin Racecourse. Besides watching top-class horses in action, racegoers can enjoy a wealth of attractions, a free souvenir cap, special Derby Themed Tee, a display of the latest BMW cars and some mouth-watering culinary delights, as well as appearances by Derby Ambassador Donnie Yen.
Fans attending the Derby meeting will each receive a BMW Hong Kong Derby Cap (Photo 1) on admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses before the start of Race 5, while stocks last. For $50, racegoers can have a name of their choice sewn onto the cap at the racecourse souvenir shop “Gift At Races”.
The BMW Hong Kong Derby, a once-in-a-lifetime contest for top four-year-olds, will be run as Race 9. Dr Simon S O Ip, Chairman of HKJC, will officiate the trophy presentation ceremony. Mr Kevin Coon, Vice President of BMW Group Importer Office Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Mr Joseph Lau, Managing Director – Hong Kong, BMW Concessionaires (HK) Ltd, and Donnie Yen will present souvenirs to the winning connections after the race.
An array of on-course activities are available for racing fans to enjoy, including
- the latest BMW models exhibit at the Parade Ring and Public Forecourt for aficionados to snap photos
- Culinary delights available at trackside catering counters
- A brand new series of Derby themed T-shirts, limited edition T-shirt designed by Derby Ambassador Donnie Yen and personalized T-shirts available for sale
- A range of commemorative BMW Hong Kong Derby merchandise will be on offer at booths located in the Public and Members’ Stands.
Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 11am, with the first race starting at 1pm. There will be 10 races on the card.
