Victoria Derby winner last October. Finished hard, at second run since, when nose 2nd to Palentino in G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on 5 March. Objection against winner was dismissed. The 2000m looks ideal at this stage of campaign.

Le Romain

No match for Press Statement when 2.3 lengths 2nd in the Hobartville Stakes on 20 February. However, then had the better run in transit when head winner from Press Statement in the G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 5 March. On trial at distance but in great form.

Vanbrugh

Over-raced early but still finished off well when 3.25 lengths 6th to Palentino in G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on 5 March at second run this year. Won three straight last time in, culminating with G 1 win in the Spring Champion Stakes at this distance.

Etymology

Settled too far back when 5.9 lengths 10th to Le Romain in the G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 5 March. Placed only start this distance in G 3 Caulfield Classic last October before running 2 lengths 2nd to Tarzino in Victoria Derby.

Shards

Just fair at third run this year when 5.1 lengths 8th to Le Romain in the G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 5 March but may improve at longer trip. Led and ran second, splitting Jameka and Tarzino, in the G2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) at most recent run this distance range.

Gold Ambition

Ran on well when 1.5 lengths 3rd to Le Romain and Press Statement in the G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 5 March. Unplaced two previous attempts beyond 1600m but in better form now.

River Wild

Made late ground when 1.6 lengths 4th to Palentino and Tarzino in G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on 5 March. Unknown beyond 1600m. Soft ground would be a plus.

Montaigne

Good effort last time, after had bad luck in running, when 2.5 lengths 5th to Le Romain in G1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 5 March and looks capable of making further improvement.

I’m Belucci

Ran on well when 3.2 lengths 4th to Mr Epic in Doomben 1600m 3YO on 27 February. Ran 1.3 lengths 2nd to Vanbrugh in G1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last October.

Crosley Hotshot

Lightly raced and has won up to 1800m on good and soft ground. Up in class but did run on strongly last time when neck 2nd to Multifacets in the Warwick Farm 1600m BM 71 on 9 March.

Hursley

Worked home fairly last start when 1.7 lengths 5th to Ghost Protocol in Rosehill 1900m BM 85 on 12 March. Best win was Listed 1800m race on heavy ground at Flemington last November.

Spanish Stride

Strong finisher who steps up in class after encouraging 1.5 lengths win from Alfden in Gosford 2100m 3YO on 5 March at only fifth start.

Oh So Splendido

Maiden in New Zealand but could surprise. Ran on strongly in two 2100m runs at Ellerslie in February, behind Provocative and What’s The Story who’ve both run well since. Then struck severe interference in early stages of the G1 NZ Derby (2400m) when 8.3 lengths 13th behind Rangipo.

G1 VRC Oaks winner last November. Caught wide and ran well at second start this year when 2 lengths 5th to Palentino in G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on 5 March. Advantaged by rise in distance.
