Chairman's Sprint Prize Trackwork V Wednesday, 20 April

20/04/2016

BUFFERING (AUS)
Worked on the all-weather track this morning before paddock schooling.
Trainer Robert Heathcote, observing the gelding’s work for the first time this week, said: “He's great, he's much better than he was last time we came here (finishing sixth in the 2014 Hong Kong Sprint). He had a really good gallop here yesterday and came through it well. He also had a nice breeze-up at Meydan before he left Dubai and it's just a case of ticking him over now. It's a terrific race next week. There's no doubt that Chautauqua is the number one sprinter in the world at the moment but my bloke's probably number one for longevity and he has nothing to prove. We're hopeful he can be right in the mix again in the Chairman's.”

CHAUTAUQUA (AUS)
Appeared on the track for the first time, after arriving yesterday, and cantered on the all-weather track.
Trainer Michael Hawkes, in attendance at track work for the first time this week, said; “He lost a little weight on the flight over but I'm not too worried about that. He was quite bright when he got off the plane and I'm sure he'll pick up over the next two or three days. The main thing is that we are here. We wanted to come last December but he just wasn't 100 per cent then. He's in great shape now and the important thing now is to get him to relax and acclimatised in the new environment. We'll go easy with him in the next few days.”
