CHAUTAUQUA (AUS) Galloped over 1200m in 1m 23.6s (31.0s, 30.2, 22.4) on the turf course. “All good,” said trainer Michael Hawkes of the horse who is unbeaten in two 1200m runs right-handed. As to the preferred tempo for the renowned closer, who came from last at the 400m in a field of 15 when a last start winner of the G1 T. J. Smith Stakes at Randwick, Hawkes said: “A good, even pace would be ideal but he's shown he can run his closing splits off a fast or slow pace.”
