Audemars Piguet QEII Cup

BLAZING SPEED, HELENE SUPER STAR (HK)
Trainer Tony Cruz said: “Both horses are very well. I was pleased with their faster work on Thursday and they’re going into the race very fit horses. Everything has gone according to plan. The opposition is very strong and Joao’s (Moreira) horse, Lovely Day, he looks the main danger.”

DESIGNS ON ROME, WERTHER, HELENE HAPPY STAR (HK)
Trainer John Moore said: “All good with my three. They’re ready for Sunday.”

ERTIJAAL (UAE)
Assistant trainer Trevor Brown was happy to have Ertijaal confined to barracks this morning after his strong turf gallop the day before. “He's ready," Brown said.

HIGHLAND REEL (IRE)
December’s G1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m) winner galloped three-quarter pace on the all-weather track under work rider David Bergin, covering 800m in 54.5s (28.0, 26.5).
Assistant trainer Pat Keating said: “Very good, very happy with him. Work's been sound and I'd say he's in similar shape to December.”

LOVELY DAY (JPN)
Exercised in the quarantine area.
Trainer Yasutoshi Ikee said: “He had a breeze before he left Japan and also galloped on Thursday, and he did not need to do too much work today and I did not want to work him on the super-fast track on the all-weather track.  So I decided to remain in the trotting ring for exercise. His mood is good and he is in good order.

“It took time to recover his condition after he ran in the Arima Kinen but he was not in perfect condition last time out, but he should be in good form for his second race up. He seems to be happy with the climate here and looks good with his coat and muscle.  I think the condition of the turf is good, especially on the inner green strip.  But I hope there will not be too much rain tomorrow.

“I have not talked to Joao Moreira yet, but I have already told him through my translator what type of horse Lovely Day is.  Joao should have watched his replays.  He will take a handy position from the inside draw.”

NUOVO RECORD (JPN)
Exercised in the quarantine area.
Trainer Makoto Saito said: “I am happy with her condition at the moment.  She enjoys being here and is mentally primed for the race. She has a great conformation and her form is top level.”

RISING ROMANCE (AUS)
Cantered on the all-weather track.
Trainer David Hayes said: “She's happy and relaxed. From my experience training here, some horses thrive in this environment and some don't and fortunately she's in the first category.”

SATONO CROWN (JPN)
Exercised in the quarantine area.
Assistant trainer Tomohiro Takahashi said: “He was a bit stiff in his first strides this morning but showed more suppleness and worked nicely afterwards. He has been relaxed and everything up to now is in good order.”
