Chairmans Sprint Prize V Monday Track Notes (25 April)

25/04/2016

AEROVELOCITY (HK)
Trainer Paul O’Sullivan said: “To me, he didn’t trial (last week) as well as he did before he won his last start. He’s going to have to take a lot of benefit out of that trial to be anywhere near his best so hopefully he has.”

BUFFERING (AUS)
Cantered on the all-weather track
Trainer Robert Heathcote said: “He’s feeling good. You saw him prance on to the track this morning so you know he’s full of himself. Just got to keep him ticking over.”

CHAUTAUQUA (AUS)
Cantered on the all-weather track.
Trainer Michael Hawkes said: “It’s great to see him so relaxed. He does have a mind of his own and he likes to be left alone. He’s that sort of horse and he can be a bit on edge at times but here he’s really settled. He’s adapted well and acclimatised really well in Hong Kong. The biggest thing is the climate but it was cooler the first couple of days after he arrived and I think that helped. Having the extra week here has been beneficial. He just had a nice canter this morning and we’ll gallop him tomorrow morning.”

GOLD-FUN (HK)
Trainer Richard Gibson said: “It’s clear to see that Gold-Fun’s track work is less impressive, he’s an older horse, he’s done it before and he’s always given his best in the afternoon, so I’m not disappointed with his track work. He’s in good condition and he’s been racing well all year,”

MONGOLIAN SATURDAY (USA)
Galloped 800m on the turf course under Douglas Whyte in 49.5s (27.4, 22.1)
Trainer Ganbat Enebish noted: “It looked a bit slow for me early in the work but he picked it up in the stretch. That should be his final fast work until the race and we will just try to keep him happy now.”

Douglas Whyte said: “He really picked up well in the last furlong (200m) when I gave him a squeeze. Very happy with him.”

STRATHMORE (HK)
Jockey Neil Callan said: “He’s a really nice horse, since I had a first sit on him, he’s really impressed me. He’s a big, strong type of horse and covers the ground very easily. He’s a solid horse going in there but it’s a pretty strong race. If he runs a race I’ll be very happy. He’s still a young horse but he’s got plenty of improvement left in him.”
