Chairmans Sprint Prize V Post-race jockey quotes

01/05/2016

1st - Chautauqua – Tommy Berry
“I wasn’t worried that we were so far back given the speed but I was concerned how he came off the bit earlier than he usually does. But he overcame that because he’s a very special horse.”

2nd - Lucky Bubbles – Brett Prebble
“Who brought that rocket here? I gave him a peach of a ride and he went terrific, and one sailed past us.”

3rd - Strathmore – Neil Callan
“At the 200 I started to get excited but two very good horses ran by him. He still found the line and ran so well in this grade.”

4th - Gold-Fun – Olivier Peslier
“He was a bit slowly out and took time to find his feet but finished off well.”

5th - Amazing Kids – Nash Rawiller
“I ran into a traffic jam, otherwise he’d have been very competitive.”

6th - Not Listenin’tome – James McDonald
“I got decked half-way down the straight. Terrific effort. Might have run fourth without the trouble.”

7th - Divine Boy – Derek Leung
“I thought I would run sixth, he went very well and just got tired a little bit at the end. He’s a very honest horse, he was fit, it was a first try at Group 1 but he has shown he has ability and ran very well.”

8th - Aerovelocity – Zac Purton
“He’s brave, he’s just not himself.”

9th - Mongolian Saturday – Douglas Whyte
“He ran terrific but I got knocked down half-way down the straight.”

10th – Thewizardofoz – Joao Moreira
“He was a bit off. He jumped out and wasn’t very interested. I just got him a run on the fence, trying to save ground, and he ran home okay, but not even close to his best.”

11th - Charles The Great – Gerald Mosse
“We were a little bit crowded in the straight but it is a bit hard for him now in this class of race.”

12th - Super Jockey – Karis Teetan
“He was drawn wide and used a lot of energy from the beginning. He’ll do his best on an all-weather track. There were too many strong horses there.”

13th - Peniaphobia – Matthew Chadwick
“I just had too much pressure up front. Buffering didn’t want to hand up the lead and I had Aerovelocity outside of me. We were just going too fast.”

14th - Buffering – Damian Browne
“It was a little disappointing. Went very hard early and that meant he faded in the run but I think maybe it’s a case of it being at the end of a long prep, with the travel to Dubai and here, and he’s not getting any younger.”
