30/05/2016

Derby Stakes Day from United Kingdom (Sat, 4 June – 1st race starts 9:00pm)

Seven races from the Derby meeting to be held at Epsom Racecourse in the UK will be simulcast for betting from late evening on Saturday, 4 June.

The Derby (G1 2409m for 3yo colts and fillies) dates back to 1780 and is probably the most famous flat race in the world. Over the years, the race became so successful that it inspired versions of The Derby in almost every racing nation in the world. The undulations at Epsom and the testing descent from Tattenham Corner have made the Derby a strong test of balance, speed and stamina. Winning the Blue Riband of the Turf remains the lifetime dream of every horseman.

The supporting card is headed by the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Cup (G1 2409m for 4yo and upwards), an intriguing contest for top middle-distance runners from the older generation where POSTPONED, the current joint 3rd in the LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings, could make his first appearance since winning the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night.

The other simulcast races on the card are:
Princess Elizabeth Stakes (G3 1704m for 3yo+ fillies and mares)
‘Dash’ (Handicap) (1000m for 3yo and upwards)
Private Banking Stakes (Handicap) (2016m for 3yo)
Asset Finance Stakes (Handicap) (2409m for 4yo and upwards)
Asset Management Stakes (Handicap) (1200m for 4yo and upwards)

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Derby Stakes Day races will be available late evening on Thursday, 2 June at the Jockey Club’s website.

Yasuda Kinen from Japan (Sun, 5 June – 2:40pm)

On Sunday, 5 June, the G1 Yasuda Kinen will be simulcast live from Tokyo Racecourse during the Sha Tin races.

The Yasuda Kinen (G1 1600m for 3yo and upwards) now in its 66th running, is a race to determine the best miler of the spring season in Japan and has become a popular end of season target for Hong Kong's leading milers.

The John Size trained CONTENTMENT will be the sole overseas challenger in this year’s running and he will need to improve on what he has shown to rival the all-conquering Japanese superstar miler MAURICE.

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Yasuda Kinen will be released on Friday, 3 June.

Yasuda Kinen entries
Prix du Jockey Club from France (Sun, 5 June – 10:15pm)

The Prix du Jockey Club will be simulcast live from France in the late evening of Sunday, 5 June.

The Prix du Jockey Club (G1 2100m for 3yo colts and fillies) was inspired by the English Derby and was first run in 1836 at the scenic Chantilly racecourse, heart of France’s largest training center.

The best three-year-olds in continental Europe along with contenders across the English Channel look set to establish their pre-eminence and battle it out for the glory and €1,500,000 on offer.

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Prix du Jockey Club will be available late evening on Friday, 3 June at the Jockey Club’s website.
