From an Irish stable starting to make a big impact and his third in the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh last time means he needs respect here. Drying ground would be a big help.
2
Abdon
Won his only start last year, surviving soft ground even though his jockey said he didn't like it . He ran a really good second in a Listed event over this distance at Newmarket in April.
3
Hawkbill
He has won his last four starts and moved up in class and to this distance to land a Listed event at Newmarket on his 2016 debut. In that event they went slowly early but sprinted late.
4
Long Island Sound
Has won all three starts and is bound to be popular from this stable/jockey combination. He led from start to finish to win over 1636m at Killarney last time even though his rider said that those tactics were not ideal.
5
Mulk
An expensive yearling purchase, he has looked inexperienced on both his starts but won nicely second time in a Chester maiden. Second and third have let the form down since, but to the eye Mulk was stylish that day.
6
Prize Money
A well-regarded Godolphin-owned colt who has done nothing wrong in three starts. He started favourite for a 2200m Listed race at Goodwood last time but was just outstayed by a tough colt who went on to run in the Derby.
7
Race Day
Gelded since his penultimate run, doing OK in a 1400m Listed event at Newmarket last time. He moves up in trip but looks the Godolphin third string here.
8
Royal Artillery
Easy winner of a 1400m maiden last season. His trainer warned that he would need his 2016 return and so it proved but he looks very promising and seems sure to appreciate this distance.
9
Steel Of Madrid
Beat three rivals in a slowly-run Listed race at Newmarket last time, his jockey insisting the victory would have been easier with a stronger pace. Looks best on good or quicker ground.
