Great family fun in store at Jockey Club Pre-Seasonal Carnival

The ever-popular annual event of Pre-Season Carnival (Photo 1) will be held on Saturday 27 August at Sha Tin Racecourse.  The Carnival will feature six themes, namely “Horse Fun”, “Inflatable Game Zone”, “Creative Zone”, “Wisdom Challenge Zone”,   “Sports Challenge Zone” and “Nursery Zone” to cater for a whole day of fun for all.  The Jockeys’ Sprint (Photo 4), Grass Trial (Photo 5), as well as Pony Ride (Photo 2) and Photo Taking with Shetland Ponies (Photo 3) will continue in this year’s edition.  Throughout the day, there are over sixty fun-filled workshops, games and performances to join.  Ticket combos will go on sale from Tuesday 16 August at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches, while stocks last. 

The Barbie Hat DIY Workshop(Photo 6), Hotwheels-Make it Epic fun zone, Thomas & Friends Bouncy Fun and Play-Doh Workshop are amongst the key attractions of the Carnival.  In the Barbie Hat Workshop, participants can make a fancy little hat for Barbie, which can also be served as a hair accessory.    

In Hotwheels-Make it Epic fun zone, there will loads of excitement to have in the Round Tour Competition with Hotwheels playsets.  For Thomas & Friends Bouncy Fun, the huge inflatable installation allows for jolly time for kids.  The Play-Doh Workshop is to inspire kids’ creativity as they use Play-doh playset to make their own cake, pizza, ice-cream and more!

Live performances including dancing, clown performance, children choir, African drum and magic show are surely not to be missed.  The other must-visit game booths to check out are the Yakult Interactive Game Zone, 3Doodler Young Creator 3D Art Workshop, My Little Pony Interactive 3D Magic Colouring, Mega Bloks Mega Fun, and BeatBo Dance Sing Fun Meet & Greet.  As for the chance for parents to bond with kids, go no further than the Parents & Child Obstacles Game.  My Little Chef – Mooncake Making Class  (Photo 7) offers valuable learning experiences, when kids can make two mini-mooncakes under the coaching of Hong Kong Jockey Club chefs. 

Other highlights for horse lovers will include:

  • Pony Ride* and Photo Taking with Shetland Ponies A unique opportunity to learn how to care for and bond with equine friends.
  • Jockeys’ Sprint The annual Jockeys’ Sprint will feature the unforgettable sight of jockeys racing barefoot on the turf.
  • Grass Trial A fully-fledged pre-season grass trial will offer visitors a sneak preview of the new season’s opening day on Saturday 3 September. The onsite “Guess the Winner” contest offers prizes valued at over HK$10,000 in total.     

The Pre-Season Carnival, to be staged from 11am to 7:30pm on 27 August, is open to the public of all ages. Ticket combos will go on sale from Tuesday 16 August at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches, while stocks last. Each ticket combo costs HK$60 and includes an admission coupon (HK$10), a food and beverage coupon (HK$10) and four game coupons (HK$40). There is no admission charge for children aged three or below. 

Participants can access to Sha Tin Racecourse on foot from Exit C, Fo Tan Station (8 minutes). Complimentary shuttle buses will run between Sha Tin MTR Station and the Racecourse at 15-minute intervals between 11:00 am and 8:30 pm. The boarding point at the station is next to Pai Tau Village Leisure and Culture Services Headquarters.
