Goffs Doncaster duo to Hong Kong Jockey Club

26/08/2016

This week’s Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster, England served up a pair of attractive, speedy types to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which paid a total of £335,000 for the duo.

The Club stepped in to secure Lot 112 during the opening session of the two-day sale (Tuesday 23 August and Wednesday 24 August). The bay colt is by Kodiac, a proven source of speed, out of the thrice Listed-placed sprinter City Dancer, and the hammer fell at £105,000.

Day two brought a determined duel to secure Lot 288, a strong and athletic son of Acclamation, a sire that has produced 10 individual winners in Hong Kong from 16 starters. The Club saw off the Shadwell operation’s Angus Gold with a bid of £230,000 to purchase the bay colt, which is out of the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes winner Melbourne Memories, from a family that also features G1 winner Lycius and G1-placed Tereshkova.

Purchase details:

Lot 112 b c Kodiac ex City Dancer (Elusive City) £105,000 (approximately HK$1,084,650)

Lot 288 b c Acclamation ex Melbourne Memories (Sleeping Indian) £230,000 (approx. HK$2,375,900)
