The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased three colts at the Baden-Baden Premier Yearling Sale in Germany on Friday, 2 September for a total outlay of €525,000 (approximately HK$4.63 million).
Soldier Hollow’s son Bullish Smart was purchased out of this sale and has so far racked up five wins in Hong Kong, as well as claiming the Champion Griffin title two years ago. The Club went to €240,000 to secure Lot 161, another attractive prospect by the stallion, a four-time G1-winner and Germany’s Horse of the Year in his racing days. The bay colt is a half-brother to six winners, three of them Listed scorers.
The Club kicked off it’s purchasing with Lot 148, a bay son of the G1 Italian Derby victor Kallisto out of the G3-winning miler Prakasa. The hammer fell at €85,000.
Buying concluded with Lot 235, an athletic chestnut colt by Iffraaj from the extended family of G1 winners Solemia, Silasol, Okawango, The Gurkha and Authorized. The €200,000 buy is out of the Listed-placed Rock Of Gibraltar mare Neuquen.
