Sprinters Stakes Day and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Day to be simulcast for betting

26/09/2016

On Sunday, 2 October, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast six races from the Sprinters Stakes Day in Japan, starting at noon, and two Group 1 races from France’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting in the evening.

Sprinters Stakes Day from Nakayama Racecourse, Japan (1st race 12:25pm)

A total of six races will be beamed live from Japan with the highlight being the Sprinters Stakes (1200m G1 for 3yo+) which is Japan’s premier sprint event and also one of the inaugural legs of the Global Sprint Challenge Series. Whilst the race is without an overseas representative this year, it will not be lacking in quality as the top class BIG ARTHUR bids to cement his position as Japan’s number one in the sprint category after facile wins in the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen and G2 Centaur Stakes.

The details of supporting races will be announced later in the week.

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Sprinters Stakes will be available on Friday, 30 September while the final declarations with barrier draws for the other races will be published on Saturday, 1 October.

Arc de Triomphe Day from Chantilly Racecourse, France (1st race 9:20pm)

The world’s finest middle distance horses will once again gather for France’s annual autumn showpiece – the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1 2400m for 3yo+ colts, fillies and mares). For the first time since 1944, the Arc will not be run at Longchamp due to reconstruction works and Chantilly has been chosen as the venue.

The Prix de l’Opera (G1 2000m for 3yo+ fillies and mares), despite being a supporting race on Arc Day, is always a contest of high quality. The winner of this race will earn an automatic invitation to the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita this November.

Final declarations with barrier draws for Arc Day will be available late evening on Saturday, 1 October at the Jockey Club’s website.
