VICTORIUS, which is a declared starter for the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on Saturday, 1 October 2016, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards from its engagement at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 28 September 2016 acting on a report from the Club’s Acting Head of Racing Laboratory, Dr E N M Ho, that the pre-race urine sample taken from the horse on the morning of 28 September 2016 was found to contain the prohibited substance diclofenac.
Further urine samples collected from VICTORIUS under post-race conditions on the evening of 28 September 2016 and again on the morning of 29 September 2016 were submitted for analysis. Dr Ho has subsequently reported that both follow-up samples have tested negative for diclofenac. Accordingly, the Stewards have ruled that VICTORIUS is permitted to take its place in the aforementioned race.
