Hong Kong Jockey Club purchases three colts at Arqana

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased three colts for a total cost of €530,000 at last week’s Arqana October Yearling Sale (18-20 October).

Two particularly attractive individuals, Lot 59 and Lot 148, sold to the Club for €260,000 and €250,000, respectively. The former, a roan youngster by the brilliant Shamardal, is a half-brother to the G3 Athasi Stakes (1400m) winner Gossamer Seed.

Lot 148, a black colt by another G1 winner and sire, Lawman, hails from a good German black type family, being the first foal out of the Listed-winning Soldier Hollow mare, Sworn Sold. 

Bidding for Lot 36, an athletic colt by the precocious dual Group 2-winning juvenile sprinter Approve, stopped when the auctioneer’s hammer fell at a bargain €20,000. The bay youngster is out Heaven’s Heart, a juvenile winner and Listed placed at three and herself a daughter of the smart 1700m G3 winner Heaven’s Command.
