Happy Trails

Late sectionals were sound when 7.6 lengths 5th to Hartnell in the G1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington at only second run this season but then last all the way when 14.4 lengths behind Winx in G1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 22 October. Drier ground and return to Flemington may assist.

Hauraki

Ran 1.3 lengths 2nd to Winx in the G1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 17 September. Then came from last on turn to win G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) by a nose from Dibayani at Randwick on 1 October. Softer ground against when 12.4 lengths 8th to Winx in G1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 22 October.

The United States

Lines up for third straight Saturday but form strong for this. Won G2 Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley before very good 1.2 lengths 4th to Le Romain in G1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on 29 October. Very good record at 2000m.

Happy Clapper

Sound effort at third run this season when 0.6 lengths 4th to Hauraki in the G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on 1 October. Then battled well when 11 lengths 6th to Winx in G1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 22 October - winner’s margin was 8 lengths. This track more suitable.

Vadamos

Andre Fabre trained French visitor. Won by 1.3 lengths from Spectre in the G1 Prix du Moulin du Longchamp (1600m) at Chantilly on 11 September. Then brave when set fast pace and held on to finish 9.75 lengths 4th to Winx in G1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 22 October.

Awesome Rock

Ran well at 1600m when closed late for 1.5 lengths 5th to He’s Our Rokkii in G1 Toorak Handicap on 8 October. Then not disgraced 10.5 lengths 5th to Winx in G1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 22 October. First home but lost the G1 Australian Cup (this course and distance) on protest in March but needs career best to win here.

Scottish

Excellent on pace performance at Australian debut when 3 lengths 2nd to Jameka in G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on 15 October. Drops in distance no issue and rates highly.

Endless Drama

Former UK galloper having first run in Australia for new trainer Chris Waller. Naas 1600m Handicap winner two starts back before 4 lengths 5th to Success Days in G3 Royal Whip Stakes (2000m) at The Curragh on 21 August. Won recent barrier trial.

Palentino

Failed first run right handed when 7.7 lengths last of 13 behind Hauraki in G1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick on 1 October. Vetted clear. Then 4.3 lengths 11th to Le Romain in G1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) here last Saturday when settled too far back. Does have good record this track.

Vanbrugh

Strong effort when  half length winner from Tom Melbourne in G3 Coongy Cup at this distance at Caulfield on 15 October. Trip suits and fresher for this than many of rivals.

Tivaci

Raced handy and battled on well when 0.9 lengths 3rd to He’s Our Rokkii in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfied on 8 October. Then ran very well when 1.1 lengths 3rd to Le Romain in G1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) at this track last Saturday.

Good Standing

Lightly raced 3YO who looks well placed after stepping to this distance in the G2 Caulfield Classic on 15 October and winning by 0.7 lengths from Rocketeer and Inference who then ran very well in last week’s Derby.

Seaburge

Touch unlucky when head 2nd to Divine Prophet in G1 Caulfield Guineas at 1600m on 8 October and then ran well after being tightened for room when 2.8 lengths 8th to Le Romain in G1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) here last Saturday.
