Benchmark 67 - Form Comments

17/11/2016

1100m Polytrack

1

Himalaya Dragon

19 starts for four wins, twice over the Poly 1100m. This six-year-old mare last scored five starts back in an Open Benchmark 67 race over 1100m and, although unplaced in his subsequent four starts, was not that far behind the winners. He is back in an OB 67 event.

2

Power Lin

36 starts for five wins, once over the Poly 1100m. He hasn't run a totally disappointing race this campaign. Two of his most recent wins were within his last six starts. Last time out, he ran a not-too-bad seventh. Always the value choice.

3

Elite Star

13 starts for three wins, all on the Polytrack and once over 1100m. Yet to run a bad race, he scored a good win last time out over 1200m with the jockey who knows him best, Manoel Nunes. Maintaining form, he can shine again.

4

Lightning Fast

Five starts for two wins, both over the Poly 1100m. A horse on the upgrade, he has had two wins and a neck second in his last three starts since being saved up for a burst in the straight. He is heading for more.

5

Mystic Master

Eight starts for two wins, once over the Poly 1000m. Very game horse who tries his best. Prior to his last-start third, he completed his double, including the Group 3 Juvenile Championship over 1200m on turf. He will be vying for the top spots again.

6

Winning Man

Six starts for two wins, once over the Poly 1100m. He started his career by winning his first two outings but something went amiss after that. He led and flopped at his next two starts and was spelled. He failed on resuming and was spelled again. He resumed earlier this month and ran unplaced again. Best to ignore.

7

Rainbow Royal

Seven starts for two wins, both over the Poly 1100m and they came within the last four starts. Last time out, he stepped up on a smart second over the Poly 1100m to score his second win with a nice run in the straight. Can consider.

8

Fine Choice

11 starts for two wins, both over the Poly 1000m. He was spelled after his January run when second. Resuming in August, he finished a smack-up fourth, followed by a close sixth. The two runs toughened him up to score again last time out. Can be included in the exotic bets.

9

The Cosmos

15 starts for a win over the Poly 1100m. He is one of the unluckiest horses at Kranji with eight seconds. Last time out, he finished third over the Poly 1000m. A nice looker, all he needs is a dose of luck to return to the winner's circle.

10

Host The Nation

53 starts for four wins, all on the Polytrack and once over the 1100m. He doesn't win out of turn but pops up once in a while. Just two starts ago, he nearly caused a big upset when second to the unbeaten Nova Swiss over 1000m. The dark horse.

11

Lady Iffraaj

17 starts for two wins, both over the Poly 1000m. This filly always runs home nicely in her recent starts but just could not greet the judge again. There will be some pace in the race which will suit her but, then again, it's a question of whether she will be late in coming again.

12

Sky Eleven

35 starts for four wins, three over 1400m on turf and one over the Poly 1600m. He bounced back to win with strong support two starts ago but went hibernating again last start. This fella is a bit unreliable and the trip also looks a tad short.

13

Uncle Lucky

10 starts for a win over the Poly 1000m. After five unplaced starts, he came in for support and led all the way. Since then, he has not shown up in four subsequent starts. Definitely not on form and he also looks a notch below most here.
