LONGINES Hong Kong Cup
A SHIN HIKARI (JPN)
Cantered a lap and a half around the Sha Tin all-weather track.
Work rider Tomoyasu Sakaguchi said: "He was full of beans. I am happy with his good condition."
BLAZING SPEED (HK)
Slow-cantered two laps (reverse) of Sha Tin's inner all-weather training track.
Trainer Tony Cruz said: "I'm very happy with Blazing Speed. He's older but he's just as fit as last year and I think he'll put up a big show again. Maurice is the main danger and I'll be happy if he can get in the first three – he'll be eight in January. All of mine will have their last piece of work on Thursday."
ELLIPTIQUE (FR)
Cantered around the Sha Tin all-weather track under work rider Amelie Foulon.
Trainer Andre Fabre's head man Richard Lambert said: "I'm very happy. The horse is very calm and you couldn't be happier with him for a first day. His coat is in great shape and he looks very well."
HORSE OF FORTUNE (HK)
Worked 800m on the all-weather track in 55.4s (30.1, 25.3).
Trainer Tony Millard said: "He went on the grass last week (Thursday) – Silvestre (de Sousa) rode him and his work was very good. I'm happy with him and we're freshening him up now into the race."
LOVELY DAY (JPN)
Worked on the turf course under work rider Joji Yamamoto in 1m02.5s (33.5, 29).
Yamamoto said: "He worked nicely today. Last time when he came here in April he did not adjust to the new surroundings, however this time he is in a good mood and is familiar with the Hong Kong environment. He is relaxed and is in good form."
MAURICE (JPN)
Worked over the Sha Tin all-weather track.
Groom Tomohiro Takahashi said: "The three contenders from Hori Stables went two laps around the Sha Tin all-weather track, hacking for five furlongs, trotting for two furlongs, and then hacking for another seven furlongs. They travelled smoothly. Satono Crown and Maurice have settled in particularly well, while Neorealism, being on his first trip abroad, is still a bit tense. They are all eating well and relaxing in their boxes. They will gallop on either Thursday or Friday."
QUEENS RING (JPN)
Cantered easily for a lap on the all-weather track.
SECRET WEAPON (HK)
Steady reverse canter for one lap on inner (small) Sha Tin all-weather track
Trainer Dennis Yip said: "He's in very good form and I am happy with him in the mornings. He will have a gallop tomorrow morning on the turf, and after that it will be just about keeping him happy and relaxed."
STAPHANOS (JPN)
Exercised in the trotting ring at the quarantine stables.
Hideaki Fujiwara's assistant trainer Kazuo Fujiwara said: "We trotted him around the quarantine stable's trotting ring this morning. He is in very good condition. We'll gallop him on Thursday."
LONGINES Hong Kong Mile
ABLE FRIEND (HK)
One lap of small (inner) all-weather track at a canter.
Trainer John Moore said: "If the amount of work we've been able to give Able Friend proves to be sufficient, then he'll run very well. I couldn't say he was one hundred percent and, in an ideal world, you'd like to have been able to give him one more run but he does look a treat and he's not overweight. He's well in himself and will go into the race kicking his brands off. The last fifty metres might be a query but his trial was good and I wouldn't be surprised if he's in front at the furlong (100 metres) and doing his best to kick on. I hope he draws a good gate and gets a 'cushy' run, smothered up behind them. He'll have his final fast work on Thursday."
COUGAR MOUNTAIN (IRE)
Followed stablemate Highland Reel around the track for one lap at a steady canter under work rider Craig Bryson and was a little more on his toes than his companion.
HELENE PARAGON (HK)
Two times (reverse) around the small (inner) all-weather track at a canter.
Trainer John Moore said: "Helene Paragon, well he couldn't be any fitter and he's the knockout horse. He was blocked in the straight when he was building momentum last time (G2 Jockey Club Mile) and I feel that cost him the race. We've seen something of his true form at his past two runs and if he could improve a length or two off those runs, then I think he'll be right in it and I think he can make that sort of improvement. He'll have his final gallop on Thursday."
LOGOTYPE (JPN)
Cantered easily on the all-weather track under work rider Yusuke Miki.
Trainer Tsuyoshi Tanaka's travelling head lad Satoru Sasaki said: "Since he had a long journey from home to Hong Kong he might be a bit tired, however he ate up all his feed today. The trainer will be here tomorrow morning. Logotype will gallop on Thursday under jockey Mirco Demuro."
NEOREALISM (JPN)
Worked over the Sha Tin all-weather track.
Groom Tomohiro Takahashi said: "The three contenders from Hori Stables went two laps around the Sha Tin all-weather track, hacking for five furlongs, trotting for two furlongs, and then hacking for another seven furlongs. They travelled smoothly. Satono Crown and Maurice have settled in particularly well, while Neorealism, being on his first trip abroad, is still a bit tense. They are all eating well and relaxing in their boxes. They will gallop on either Thursday or Friday."
SATONO ALADDIN (JPN)
Cantered on turf under regular rider Yuki Iwasaki in 1m01.2s (33, 28.2).
Iwasaki said: "All has gone well so far. The turf track was not too fast, with more cushion than I expected. He moved nicely. He will gallop on Thursday."
LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint
AEROVELOCITY (HK)
Galloped 800m on the Sha Tin all-weather track in 56.3s (30.4, 25.9).
Trainer Paul O'Sullivan said: "I think his preparation has gone very well. He should be peaking for this run, but he's not peaking as a six-year-old this time, he's peaking as an eight-year-old and that's always tough. If he was going in with his current condition as a six-year-old, he'd be winning. That said, I'm really happy with how he's going, he's taken a bit of time but now he's there, he won't want for fitness on Sunday, he'll be right at his top. I'm keeping him to his usual preparation; gallop this morning, gallop Thursday morning, both on dirt, but he's right where he needs to be."
BIG ARTHUR (JPN)
Worked 1½ laps around the Sha Tin all-weather track.
Kenichi Fujioka's assistant trainer Masaoki Nakata said: "He had light work today, he had a very smooth gait and we are very happy with his condition. We'll gallop him on Thursday."
LUCKY BUBBLES (HK)
Galloped 800m on turf course under jockey Brett Prebble in 51.7s (29.0, 22.7).
Trainer Francis Lui said: "He's OK, he's ready now. This morning was his major gallop, I'm happy with that, he might just have something small on Thursday but he's where I want him to be."
NOT LISTENIN'TOME (HK)
One lap at a slow canter on the main all-weather track.
Trainer John Moore said this morning: "He's in with a chance. He ran very well in the race last year and won the Jockey Club Sprint in good style with the hood back on. He goes well for Hughie Bowman too. We don't have to do too much with him. He won his trial last Friday, he's ticking along well and he'll have his final gallop on Thursday."
PENIAPHOBIA (HK)
Slow-cantered two laps (reverse) on Sha Tin's inner all-weather training track.
Trainer Tony Cruz said: "He was giving five pounds away to the whole field in the Jockey Club Sprint last time and that's too much against those horses. At set weights you'll see a better performance. Last year we drew 14 but he showed his early speed and Joao (Moreira) rode a perfect race, he stole it."
PURE SENSATION (USA)
Slow-cantered a lap of the Sha Tin all-weather track under Rudy Nerbonne.
RED FALX(JPN)
Exercised at the quarantine stable trotting ring.
Trainer Tomohito Ozeki's assistant Dai Saito said: "He is in a good mood. Everything is under control and he will work on the track tomorrow."
SIGNS OF BLESSING (FR)
Cantered around the Sha Tin all-weather track under work rider Wilfred Conart.
STRATHMORE (HK)
Worked 800m on the all-weather under regular work rider Beverly Millard in 55.9s (29.5, 26.4).
Trainer Tony Millard said: "Strathmore did fast work this morning – Beverly (Millard) was very happy with him. He feels good, he's nice and sound and he worked very nicely. He'll do another workout on Friday, otherwise he's just about finished and ready."
SUPER JOCKEY (HK)
Cantered two easy laps on Sha Tin's inner all-weather training track.
Trainer Tony Millard said: "He worked on Saturday and Karis (Teetan) was very pleased with him. He's finished his preparation and he'll just freshen up into the race."
TAKEDOWN (AUS)
Cantered around the Sha Tin all-weather track under regular work rider Petra Kankova.
David Moore, assistant trainer to Gary Moore, said: "We really couldn't be happier and we've got a horse who is on the up. It's unbelievable, he's only four but he's like a proper veteran and has travelled to Hong Kong really well. Some horses lose a lot of weight in travelling but not him, and it helps that he loves eating! We just hope he gets a good gate later in the week."
LONGINES Hong Kong Vase
BIG ORANGE (GB)
Breezed around Sha Tin's all-weather track under usual rider Gillian Dolman.
GARLINGARI (FR)
Cantered one lap around the Sha Tin all-weather track under work rider Zoe Gargoulaud.
HIGHLAND REEL (IRE)
Gentle canter on the all-weather track; a bit fresh walking past the trainers' stand at the end of the home straight but relaxed at the canter under regular work rider Davy Bergin.
O'Brien's travelling head lad Pat Keating confirmed the horse's well-being: "He's travelled well, and everything is good. We'll just keep him ticking over and freshen him up."
NUOVO RECORD (JPN)
Worked in the trotting ring at the quarantine stables.
Groom Hideyuki Obara said: "She had light work this morning in the quarantine's trotting ring. She is in good condition and has settled in very nicely. She has maintained her condition well despite all the travel. We will canter her over the turf on Wednesday and then gallop her on Thursday."
SATONO CROWN (JPN)
Worked over the Sha Tin all-weather track.
Groom Tomohiro Takahashi said: "The three contenders from Hori Stables went two laps around the Sha Tin all-weather track, hacking for five furlongs, trotting for two furlongs, and then hacking for another seven furlongs. They travelled smoothly. Satono Crown and Maurice have settled in particularly well, while Neorealism, being on his first trip abroad, is still a bit tense. They are all eating well and relaxing in their boxes. They will gallop on either Thursday or Friday."
SILVERWAVE (FR)
Trotted one lap around the Sha Tin all-weather track under work rider Sylvain Guillot.
SMART LAYER (JPN)
Cantered on turf course under the work rider Kota Kato in 59.8s (32.6, 27.2).
Kato said: "She is well adjusted to the new surroundings here. She was easy to ride and settled today. She will gallop on Thursday."
