The global spotlight will be on Sha Tin this Sunday, 11 December, as top horses from around the world compete for the coveted titles in the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races – the turf world championships. Cheering them on will be former tennis champion Andre Agassi and local singer Leo Ku.
A wide range of trackside entertainment has also been lined up on the big day for fans to enjoy at Sha Tin Racecourse.
- Racegoers entering Sha Tin Racecourse on 11 December will receive a complimentary LONGINES HKIR souvenir cap (photo 1) as a free gift (before Race 5 or while stocks last).
- The day will open with a powerful and vibrant drumming performance by the local troupe Ban’s Gig Drums. Renowned singer Leo Ku will take the stage to perform some of his all-time favourites at the opening variety show.
- After Race 2, The Hon Lam Woon-kwong, GBS, JP, Convenor of the Executive Council will join all jockeys participating in the four Group 1 races at the Opening Ceremony in the Parade Ring to greet racing fans and raise the curtain on this year's International Races. He will also present the trophy for the most prestigious of the four International Group 1 races, the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.
- LONGINES Ambassador of Elegance Andre Agassi will present souvenirs to winning connections of the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup. A photographer will snap pictures of the best-dressed racegoers and invite them to enter the “LONGINES Prize for Elegance” competition. The winner will receive a LONGINES watch presented by Andre Agassi.
- A range of international cuisine will be available to delight the palates of racegoers at the Mezza One food plaza.
