Cosmo Llave

Two wins from 15 starts. Took his second score in 13 starts when successful over 2200m in September. Followed that with a second-place in a middle-class stakes race at the course and distance three weeks later.  His first appearance in a graded race was last time out in October’s Japanese St Leger, the G1 Kikuka Sho (3000m) in which he finished 16th. Hold-up runner. 

Derma Sallie Chan

The five-year-old mare took her second win from 36 starts in an allowance race (2000m) in September 2016. Third in a middle-class stakes race (2600m) in November latest.  Settles back or midfield.

Device Driver

In fine form both starts since returning from four-month summer break. Second in middle-class stakes race (2200m) on 15 October then won a lower-class stakes race (2200m) on 30 October latest. Two wins and five places from 16 career starts. Untried beyond 2400m. Settles midfield.

Enigma Variate

The four-year-old colt has three wins at 1800m and 2000m from 20 career starts. The latest at Sapporo in August followed five consecutive placed efforts (2000m and 2400m). 10th of 13 latest in a middle-class stakes race (2000m) on 1 October.  Settles at midfield or better.

Extremity

Two wins from 32 career starts both on dirt at 1800m.  Best finish this season a second over 2600m in a middle-class stakes race in February. Fifth in the middle-class stakes race (2000m) in September but then ninth of 10 at the course and distance latest in an allowance race on 4 December. Settles midfield or deeper.

Fujimasa Emperor

Veteran with two wins from 41 starts, the latest over 1600m in May, 2013. 11 top three finishes in 27 starts since then, including second in an allowance race at the course and distance on 4 December latest. No worse than sixth in five starts at course and distance for two second placings. Tactically versatile.  Settles rear but can sits behind lead.

Meiner Carezza

Favours firm and good ground.  Took his third win from 21 career starts in a middle-class stakes race (2400m) at Tokyo in June. His best effort since was second in a 2400m allowance race at that same track in October. Comes in off an eighth-place in a course and distance allowance race on 4 December.  Sits handy or leads.

Meson Lea

Very consistent performer from 2000m to 2600m. Never worse than fifth in 11 starts for two wins and five placed returns. Latest win came in a 2600m Hakodate allowance race in July. Placed third at the course and distance last two starts including an allowance race on 4 December.  No going issues.  Settles behind speed or better than midfield.

Prayer House

Three career wins, two at 2600m. Latest came in a firm going lower-class stakes race (2600m) at Fukushima in November. Flopped on soft going when 10th of 14 at that same track and distance in a middle-class stakes on November 19. 12th of 16 in this race last year. Hold-up runner.

Stay Bravissimo

Never worse than fifth in 10 career starts and his form has been at a peak since winning a 2600m contest at Fukushima in July. Fourth in a middle-class stakes race (2400m) in November latest.  Hold-up runner.  No track worries.

Stay Persist

The three-year-old colt grabbed his second win from 7 starts in a lower-class stakes race (2400m) in August. Heads in off a 10th place in the G2 St. Lite Kinen (2200m) in September.  Settles midfield or deeper.

Superb Day

Best performance since winning a lower-class stakes race at Fukushima (2000m) in July last year was fourth-place in a middle-class stakes race at Tokyo in October, his first attempt at 2400m. Followed that with sixth-place in an allowance race (2400m) in October latest.  Untried over further. Leads or sits behind speed.

Takeru Ramses

The four-year-old took his third win from 18 career starts in a lower-class stakes race (2600m) in August 2016. Two fair efforts at course and distance since: fifth in a middle-class stakes race in September and fourth in an allowance race on 4 December latest. Settles midfield or back.

Win Volare

Three-year-old with two wins from 10 starts. Broke his maiden over 2200m at Nakayama in March. Spelled thereafter but returned first-up from that break to win an allowance race (2600m) at Sapporo. No wins in four starts since but twice raced at course and distance for fourth (24 September) and seventh (4 December).  Leads or sits handy.
