The “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” (photo 1) will be held this Sunday at Sha Tin Racecourse and racing fans can enjoy an array of fabulous on-course activities to bring good luck for 2017.

The good fortune will start immediately upon admission with all racegoers receiving a Horseshoe Keychain (photo 2) until the start of Race 6, or while stocks last.

Try for extra luck with the mini games, hosted by “Lucky Stars” Joyce Cheng, Alfred Hui (photo 3), Mayanne Mak and Ashley Chu (photo 4), for fantastic on-the-spot prizes. Racegoers can also play the “Toss & Win” game situated at the Concourse to receive a special gift.

Racegoers can bring home more luck by purchasing the Lucky Horseshoe merchandise, a Wine Rack and a Magazine Holder, for the special price of $888 (originally $1,288) and $788 (originally $988) respectively. Also, a brand new series of “Lucky Start” merchandise, including a jacket, Tee, umbrella and phone case, will be launched on 1 January. All items are available at designated sales counters in the Public Betting Hall and Members’ Enclosure, and Gift at Races at Sha Tin Racecourse.

Western pastries branded with a lucky horseshoe symbol, a beef & mushroom pie ($32) and a Tiramisu ($34), will be available at Mezza One and all Trackside Catering’s outlets.

Race fans everywhere will benefit from “Lucky Start” top-ups on 1 January. For the Triple Trio, the payout for a single $10 winning unit is expected to reach $17 million. Meanwhile, the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool for Race 7 and Race 11 will be topped up with $1 million each.

On the track, the day’s highlight will be the first Group race for 2017, the Group 3 Chinese Club Challenge Cup Handicap. There will be 11 races on the day, with the first starting at 12:30 pm. Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 10:30 am for admission.

All racegoers must be aged 18 or above. For enquiries, please call the HKJC Customer Hotline 1817 or visit www.hkjc.com.
