HKJC snares two colts at Inglis Classic Yearling Sale

15/02/2017

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased two handsome colts with matching fine temperaments for a combined cost of AU$265,000 (approximately HK$1.55 million) at the recent Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, Australia.

First up was Lot 261, a bay youngster by Zoffany, the horse that gave Frankel his biggest scare when a close second in the 2011 G1 St James’s Palace Stakes. A Group 1-winning juvenile, the Dansili stallion was Britain and Ireland’s leading first season sire in 2015 and this colt has plenty going for him, being from a family replete with stakes winners, among them the Singapore champion Better Than Ever. The hammer fell at AU$125,000.

The Club secured Lot 449 for AU$140,000. The son of G1 Preakness Stakes hero Bernardini is out of the minor 1600m winner Divine Spice, a full-sister to the Macau Derby victor Farson. This youngster’s fourth dam is the New Zealand champion Solveig and the family has also produced G1 Sydney Cup winner Gallic among an array of Black type earners.
