The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased four athletic colts out of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in Australia earlier this week for a total outlay of A$1.31 million (approximately HK$7.66 million).
The Club went to A$500,000 for a handsome bay son of Written Tycoon. Lot 163 is a full-brother to the sharp Written Up, whose five career wins from 900m to 1400m include the Listed Bendigo Guineas. The youngster's dam, Octangle has also produced the Rakti gelding Win Chance, a two-time scorer at Sha Tin.
The auction's opening session on Sunday, 26 February, saw the hammer fall in the Jockey Club's favour for Lot 135, a Savabeel colt from the family of South African champion Irridescence. The Caesour mare numbers the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup at Sha Tin among her three G1 wins and the former star galloper is a full-sister to this youngster's second dam, the dual G1 heroine Perfect Promise. His own dam's first two foals to race are already winners.
The Club also secured a Fastnet Rock colt, a close brother to the precocious G3 winner Get The Nod; and an eye-catching son of Choisir, the first foal born to the talented G2-placed Australian mare Blue Ribbon.
