Hong Kong Macau Trophy - Macau runners form comments

02/03/2017

River Bobo –
Talented galloper who has won 11 of his 22 race starts another seven placed efforts. Latest start was running on very strongly for 3 ¼ lengths second to Sparta over 1200m in Group 3 Macau Sprint Trophy (turf). Does most of his racing on the all weather, but a winner on the turf at 1500 metres.  Races forward.

Bobo So Cute –
Won five from seven races as a 3YO in Macau before form tapered off. Raced in this race last year winding up 8th beaten 5 lengths after being ridden aggressively to hold a spot, but was not going well at the time.  Has recaptured his old form of late with a length and a quarter second to the The Alfonso over 1800 metres two starts back. Then a dominant win coming from well back last start in the Group 2 Spring Trophy over 1400 metres.  Loves a quiet ride with the speed. Sha Tin will suit.

Sparta –
Brilliant racehorse that has won five times and placed second on four occasions since arriving in Macau. Only time out of the money was 9th beaten 5 ¾ lens to The Alfonso at 1400 metres from the outside gate and worked hard in the run.  Prior to that run his biggest beaten margin was a half length. Looked sharp in winning the Group 3 Macau Sprint Trophy over 1200 metres on January 21st.  The 1400 metres at Sha Tin is a question mark.

Kelowna Star –
Has returned in fine form this season with a victory over Bobo So Cute in the Group 2 Autumn Trophy over 1600 metres (sand). Form on the turf is first class picking up a cheque in each of his three runs this season including a 1 ¾ lengh 3rd to The Alfonso over 1800 metres and a last start second beaten 1 ¼ behind Bobo So Cute in the Gr 2 Spring Trophy after doing the hard work taking the field up to the tear-away leader Wonder Mossman. Sha Tin will suit.

Golden Double –
Totally honest performer that has won 10 of his 46 starts and placed on 9 more occasions. Got a long way out of his ground when a strong finishing 4th beaten 1 ¼ lengths to Bobo So Cute last start over the 1400 metres. A Group 2 winner that ran The Alfonso to ¾ of length back in December. Races back and likes the speed on, Sha Tin will suit.

Perfect Alloy –
Honest racehorse that has won 5 and placed 7 times from 16 starts. Races on the speed and tenacious. Definitely better with some give in the ground. Latest was a gutsy 3rd beaten 1 ¾ lengths to Bobo So Cute in the Gr 2 Spring Trophy over 1400 metres. Likes to race forward.
