Very speedy over this sort of distance in the USA but not cutting it so far at Meydan and has finished well behind some of today's rivals including Cool Cowboy and Reynaldothewizard. No apparent winning chance.
2
Dundonnell
Made a terrific start to his dirt career when a closing third under top weight in a tense finish at Sha Tin in January. He confirmed his liking for this sort of surface with a fine second to Comicas at Meydan last month and meets that rival on significantly better weight terms this time.
3
Cool Cowboy
Finished a good fourth in this event two years ago despite all sorts of problems beforehand. On this day last year he dominated throughout to win the G3 over 1600m and this versatile horse won again back over this distance last time. Chances.
4
High On Life
Has done better on a dirt surface than turf since moving to the UAE but his rating still suggests he has a huge amount to find. He did at least run a good third of 13 in a 1000m dash at Jebel Ali last time.
5
Reynaldothewizard
A hugely popular veteran who refuses to lie down, bouncing back to win the same Listed contest here in January that he has won before, surging past rivals when it mattered. Best fresh so this former G1 winner here - on the Tapeta surface back in 2013 - can't be ignored.
6
Raafid
Twice a winner over 1500m on the Deauville all-weather surface last year. However he never threatened in a 1400m handicap here last month and is unlikely to be quick enough over this still shorter distance.
7
Morawij
A powerful gelding who has developed into a real dirt specialist and also is very consistent having not finished out of the first four in his last eight starts including when third in a G1 on Dubai World Cup Night last year. Still in great form.
8
Comicas
The drop to this trip on the dirt proved ideal when he fended off Dundonnell in a handicap here last month. He's worse off at the weights with that Hong Kong-trained rival but he does seem to have found his metier now. On the shortlist.
9
Muarrab
The winner of 13 starts including this race last year and even more significantly when he fended off star US raider XY Jet in a G1 on Dubai World Cup night. Runner-up in his last three starts. This tough horse will probably be pushed forward despite his wide gate.
10
Dios Corrida
He's the youngster in this field but is an interesting Japanese challenger having comfortably won what appears to be a good race over this distance on the dirt last December, a vast improvement on his previous achievements.
