1200m – Turf

1

Baccarat

Has an impeccable Meydan record, jetting in to win over course and distance in February last year and returning for another handicap victory, just holding stablemate Jungle Cat and 12 others in January.

2

Caspian Prince

Has won 15 of his 67 starts during a distinguished career including landing a 1000m handicap here in 2015. Some good runs back at Meydan this year, doing best when third of 16 in a demanding handicap back in January.

3

Fabulous One

Knows how to win as Hong Kong racefans are very aware. Back from a break he led and  was only mowed down late on in a thrilling 1200m handicap on the Sha Tin dirt in January. His Meydan debut was fairly disasterous and, with something to prove, he is back on the turf now.

4

Final Venture

Seems to be thriving for his new stable and also since coming to Meydan and being fitted with a hood. He has won two of his three starts here in 2017, both over this distance when showing lots of commitment in the closing stages.

5

Fityaan

(Withdrawn)

6

Ghaamer

Mostly races over further than this and the only time he has run over 1200m at Meydan has been on the dirt surface. He ran a good third in a 1400m handicap here back in January after gaining an early lead - his preferred tactics.

7

Jungle Cat

He has won just one of his five Meydan starts, but all his runs here have been excellent whether over 1000m or 1200m. Returning from a six month break he just failed to hold Saturday's rival Baccarat and won't have to meet classy Ertijaal (IRE), the only one to prove too good last time.

8

Krypton Factor

An extraordinary veteran speedster who won one G3 and one G1 on the former Tapeta surface here back in 2012. Two starts ago he bounced back from obscurity to land a shock win with an easy success in a handicap over course and distance. Temperamental so it depends what mood he's in.

9

Magnus Maximus

From a small UK-based stable and has provided them with plenty of excitement including when easily beating 17 rivals in an Ascot handicap last September. He has run respectably in both Meydan starts this year, but better is needed.

10

Roicead

His two best runs at Meydan last season came over 1000m including winning a weakish handicap back in January 2016. He hasn't shown much here in the current campaign and this old boy will probably struggle.

11

Sir Maximilian

Produced a strong finish to win a G3 over 1000m here in 2015 and, though he's not consistent, three of his four 2017 Meydan starts have been pretty good. Effective at this distance but his nine career wins have all come at 1000m.

12

Speed Hawk

Was beaten in his first eleven Meydan starts before landing a surprise win in a 1000m handicap here in February, showing battling qualities that he has not always been famous for. He seems to have improved since been fitted with a tongue tie.

13

The Right Man

Having his first run outside France having won his last two starts over 1100m and 1200m, showing a good ability to quicken on either soft or good ground. If he adapts to Meydan conditions the ratings say he's got a decent chance.

14

Tupi

Only just held in a G3 over 1200m at Newmarket early last season, finishing strongly on the rising ground there. This quicker track may not help especially as he mostly races over further. Well beaten in only start in the UAE in 2017.

15

Watchable

Only 2L behind Saturday's rival Krypton Factor when fourth in a handicap over this course and distance two starts back - the best of his four Meydan starts this year. But he's a frustrating horse having failed to win in his last 22 outings.

16

Tahanee

Twice a G3 winner in Argentina, and now showing plenty of promise in Dubai, close up in two 1400m handicaps at Meydan in February. She has raced over 1600m also, so interesting to see if she has the speed for this straight 1200m.

17

Solar Flair

Quite a decent handicapper over this sort of distance in the UK including a Nottingham handicap victory last July. However he showed little on last month's Meydan debut.

Reserves

18

Mustallib

A lightly-raced gelding who has some decent form over this distance when trained in the UK, looking best on a fast turf surface. Made a fair UAE debut at Jebel Ali last month.

19

Midlander

Gained four straight wins in handicaps in the UK in 2015, not an easy task. However he's been lightly raced since moving to the UAE, and looks vulnerable.

20

Wonder Of Qatar

Returning from a lengthy lay-off, he has not shown much in two Meydan starts this year.
