The free entry period for the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s three spring Group 1 features, the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup (2000m), the Champions Mile (1600m) and the Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m), will close on Monday, 20 March, at 6pm (Hong Kong time).
The process is now easier than ever thanks to the Online Entry Form at the Hong Kong Jockey Club website, www.hkjc.com.
The HK$20 million AP QEII Cup will be run on Sunday, 30 April at Sha Tin racecourse. Since the contest was first opened to international competitors in 1997, overseas raiders have carried off the prize 11 times. Past winners have hailed from Britain, France, Japan, South Africa, Germany and the UAE, as well as Hong Kong.
One week later, on Sunday, 7 May, Sha Tin will host a Group 1 double-header with the HK$16 million Champions Mile and the HK$14 million Chairman’s Sprint Prize sharing centre stage. The Chairman’s Sprint Prize is the fourth leg of the Global Sprint Challenge and last year’s first running as an international Group 1 produced a stunning last-to-first victory by Australia’s Chautauqua.
All three races rank in the top 50 of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities’ (IFHA) World’s Top 100 Group 1 Races, with the Champions Mile rated 19th overall.
The Online Entry Form allows multiple entries to be made at the click of a mouse, not only for the three spring Group 1 races but also for all of Hong Kong’s Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3 races.
With Hong Kong’s acceptance into Part 1 of the “Blue Book” last year, all of the jurisdiction’s 31 Group races are open to international entrants. The Jockey Club website also features an online version of the Hong Kong Pattern Book.

Supplementary entries for the AP QEII Cup, Champions Mile, and Chairman’s Sprint Prize will close at 6pm (HK time) on 10 April, 2017.
