G1 - 1200m - Turf

Bakushin Teio

Achieved his first graded race success in the G3 Kitakyushu Kinen (1200m) last August. First-up 6th over 1200m in January, then finished 6th again in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) on 4 March latest. Hold-up runner. Handles fast and good surfaces.

Fiero

Very consistent miler who has placed nine times at graded level so far in his career. Kicked off this season with a good 3rd in the G3 Kyoto Kim Pai (1600m) in January. Races from the rear and handles any track.

Hiruno Devaro

Showed much improvement this season after a disappointing campaign in 2016. Ran 4th in the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) in January, before a head 2nd in the G3 Hankyu Hai (1400m) in February latest. Hold-up runner. Handles all tracks.

Let's Go Donki

Winner of the 2015 G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas). Winless in 12 starts after that, including 8th in this race last year. Back to winning ways when taking the G3 Kyoto Himba Stakes (1400m) in February latest. Versatile runner and no track worries.

Melagrana

Mare in terrific form, having won four of her five most recent starts, all over 1200m. Showed a nice turn-of-foot when taking the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) latest, at Nakayama on 4 March. Hold-up runner. No ground issues.

Nac Venus

Notched her 5th career win in a 1200m race in January. Keen in the early stages when 7th in the G3 Kyoto Himba Stakes (1400m) in February. Back to her favourite distance of 1200m latest, showing strong acceleration for a half-length 2nd behind Melagrana in the G3 Ocean Stakes on 4 March. Can sit handy or take the lead.

Once In A Moon

Scored a 2nd win in succession in an upper-class stakes race in January. Showed strong acceleration latest when 1.8L 2nd to Let's Go Donki in the G3 Kyoto Himba Stakes (1400m) on 18 February. Can lead or sit handy. Prefers a fast track.

Red Arion

Winless since the G3 Sekiya Kinen (1600m) in August 2015. Well beaten in all recent starts, including latest when 12th in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) on 4 March. Sits handy. Likes a fast track.

Red Falx

Took his first G1 win in the Sprinters Stakes (1200m) last October, before an unsuccessful adventure to Hong Kong when 12th behind Aerovelocity in the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in December. Won all three previous starts on Chukyo turf. Hold-up runner and no track concerns.

Rhein Spirit

Rounded off the 2016 season with an 8th in the G3 Keihan Hai (1200m) last November. Nice first-up this season when 3rd to Seiun Kosei in the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes (1200m) in January, before 2L 5th in the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) later that month at his last run. Tactically versatile. No track worries.

Seiun Kosei

Four wins and a second from six recent starts. Won an upper-class stakes race (1400m) last November and the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes (1200m) in January. Failed to hold off the winner when a neck 2nd in the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) on 29 January latest. No track concerns. Can sit handy or lead.

Shuji

Took his second graded race when he won the G2 Hanshin Cup (1400m) last December. Sat handy but faded late for a below-par 8th in his seasonal debut in the G3 Hankyu Hai (1400m) in February. Races prominent or close to the speed. Handles all surfaces.

Snow Dragon

Finished 7th in this race last year. Made a late run to finish a fair 5th in the G1 Sprinters Stakes in October. Started off the 2017 season with a 2.5L 8th in the G3 Ocean Stakes on 4 March. Hold-up runner. No track worries.

Solveig

Defeated Shuji to take her 2nd graded race win in the G3 Hakodate Sprint Stakes (1200m) last June. Decent 3rd to Red Falx subsequently in the G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) in October. Ran OK when 6th in his seasonal debut in the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) in January latest. Can sit handy or lead. No track issues.

Talking Drum

Ran 4th in a mile open event at Kyoto in February. Returned to his best distance of 1400m and took his first graded race win latest in the G3 Hankyu Hai on 26 February. Settles close to the speed. Prefers a fast track.

Teehaff

Unplaced in all eight starts in 2016, including 12th in the G3 Keihan Hai (1200m) in November. Spelled for four months. Will make his seasonal debut in this race. Settles back. No track worries.

Tosho Piste

Three wins and two placings from 10 starts in 2016. Began awkwardly when 11th in the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes (1200m) in January. Led but faded late when 11th in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) on 4 March latest. Sits handy or can take lead. Best on a sound surface.

Xmas

All five career wins have come over this distance, including two at Sapporo and Hakodate last summer. Finished 1.3L 4th behind Nac Venus in a 1200m open handicap at Nakayama in January, before 0.5L 3rd to Melagrana in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) latest. Races close to the speed. Handles fast and good tracks.
