The Audemars Piguet QEII Cup (G1) (photo 1) is the jewel among Hong Kong's three spring features and will be run this Sunday (30 April) at Sha Tin Racecourse. Renowned celebrity owner Michele Reis (photo 2) will join the big day as the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup Ambassador, and will present a souvenir to the winning jockey after the race.
The Audemars Piguet QEII Cup, running over a distance of 2,000m, will be staged as Race 8 of the day, and offers total prize money of HK$20 million. HKJC Chairman Dr. Simon S O Ip will present the trophy to winning connections after the race. Mr. David von Gunten, Chief Executive Officer Greater China of Audemars Piguet and Mr. Yves Meylan, Chief Commercial Officer of Audemars Piguet, will present souvenirs to the winning owner and trainer respectively.
Two new APQEII Cup apparel items will be available this year, namely a Vest ($280) (photo 3) and a Polo T-Shirt ($180) (photo 4). All merchandise will be on sale at Sha Tin Racecourse souvenir shops “Gift at Races”.
Another of the day’s racing highlights will be the Queen Mother Memorial Cup (G3) over 2,400m, to be run as Race 6.
Admission to Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday will start at 11:00 am, with the first race run at 1:00 pm.
