1200m – Turf

1

Eqtiraan

A big horse who had an encouraging two-year-old career. Now gelded, he tried 1600m in Listed company on sand at Lingfield last month, leading but running out of gas - a beaten favourite for a second time. Back to this shorter trip should help.

2

Mostahel

Dropped down to a similar distance to this for his third and latest start - in a maiden event on the sand at Wolverhampton - easily overpowering six rivals in the manner of a colt who could go on to much better things.

3

Smokey Lane

Kept busy in his two-year-old season - as is the usual profile from this stable who landed this event with a surprise winner a few years ago. Finished fast from a difficult gate when fifth at Sandown last week and is effective at 1000 and 1200m.

4

Danielsflyer

The best of his four two-year-old starts came when he delivered a powerful late surge after looking in a hopeless position to almost land a surprise Listed race victory at Epsom last June. De Sousa is booked for this 2017 return.

5

Exmouth

A well-bred filly who was fit and ready first time out, winning a maiden over this distance last August. Elevated into G2 company over 1400m here the following month but raced too freely and could never get involved. Better expected now.

6

Victory Angel

Closed down 2016 with a maiden win, gaining a really stylish victory in a handicap over this course and distance last month, his rider not having to get at all serious. He might be Group race class so an 10lb higher handicap mark may not stop him.

7

Mazyoun

He won a maiden on the all-weather last October after which he was gelded. He made a reasonably promising 2017 start when fourth of 12 in a 1600m handicap last month, now dropping back to this sprint distance. Blinkered as usual.

8

Queen In Waiting

Having her third race in quick succession, easily winning a handicap on the all-weather before a very good second in a 1005m Sandown handicap eight days ago, battling on strongly up the rail and only outspeeded by a well-regarded rival. Chance.

9

The Wagon Wheel

Ran well on all her four two-year-old starts including two wins but recording her best figures when a very close third of 20 (with today's rival Mazyoun as dead-heat) in a valuable Listed 'Sales' race over this distance at Redcar in October. She's speedy.

10

Sparkalot

Both his starts have been in 1200m all-weather maidens at Kempton this year. He showed plenty of promise first time though looking very inexperienced, winning nicely last month with the two horses nearest him having both run well since.
