Champions Mile - Post-race jockey quotes

07/05/2017

1st - Contentment – Brett Prebble
“When Beauty Only came to him he dug deep again. He’s a quirky horse but he’s definitely got that performance there when he can give it to us. There was never a doubt in the stewards’ room.”

2nd - Beauty Only – Zac Purton
“He ran well, ran very well. Not much more I can say.”

3rd Helene Paragon – Tommy Berry
“He had a beautiful run. He had a great spot in the race. I crept to them on the corner and saw the two favourites in a spot of bother inside me and I probably got going a little bit too early.”

4th - Circuit Land – Hugh Bowman
“He ran another brave race, he’s very consistent but he’s a length and a half off them at this level.”

5th - Stormy Antarctic – Karis Teetan
“He came out well and he grabbed the bit and wouldn’t settle. He was too keen early, pulling my arms out. There was nothing else I could do but let him go forward around them. I had no option and that left him flat at the finish. I thought about dropping him out but the more he was fighting me and the more the pace slowed down, that wasn’t going to work.”

6th  - Convey – Olivier Peslier
“He started well, he relaxed but settled back.  When the other horse made the move I went with him but he was not so quick to pick up.”
