At the Sha Tin racemeeting on 25 June 2017, Jockey H W Lai sustained a fracture to his left wrist after being dislodged from GIOVANNI BATTISTA prior to Race 4. Accordingly, H W Lai will not ride at any of the remaining racemeetings for the current season.
The Stewards have been informed that H W Lai had been engaged to ride LOYAL CRAFTSMAN, which is weighted at 113 lbs, in the stated race. As there is no rider available who can ride at or near the horse’s allocated weight, the Stewards have approved for Freelance Jockey K C Leung, who is normally entitled to claim a 2 lb weight allowance, to ride the horse at 115 lbs, effectively 4 lbs overweight.
